Ugh, buyer beware, I mean BEWARE!!…read more As a new resident to Canada, though I have been a citizen my entire life, I was unaware/naive of how the system works. Namely, these organizations (not non profits, but probably non profits *could* possibly work the same way as well) use your SIN number to derive funding. That's not a problem if they were actually helping you end your unemployment. However (and this is a big HOWEVER; ) I've come to believe that this organization is largely wolves...that's a term taken from the Bible (as in, "wolves in sheep's clothing"). I made an appointment with a "career counselor" back in September. In the appointment they say, "we're going to help you" Well, by "help you" they actually mean: waste an hour of your time and point you in absolutely no direction whatsoever (as in no resources..when there are resources. I WAS BRAND NEW TO CANADA...there's so many directions they could have pointed me to...there was even a "Job Search Boot Camp" coming up in a couple of days...did they tell me about this in my "career counseling appointment.?" No! So, I've just come to understand that this organization derives funding from your SIN number. As such, they just want you to go to their organization (your not allowed to use any other career search companies), so it's really beneficial for them *not to tell you about any actual resources* Do you own research, there's a lot of good organizations out there. I mean, hey, the longer you stayed unemployed, the more money they can earn from you. BUYER BEWARE!!! Do you own research, buyer beware, you will only get a job *in spite of* McBride Career Group, not because of them. Seriously, my friend The only information I got from my "career counseling" appointment was that my old resume was utter garbage...guess what happens? I use an old resume and I finally got a job! AND to *give you further proof* during the interview, the manger told me how much she liked my resume. Sooooo, what is the point of McBride Career Group? I think to impede you. Oh, and also they are super misogynist. If you are a woman, do not use them. Yes, they are all women, but does that mean they are not misogynist? Absolutely not. I applied for another program that *absolutely* would have helped me get out of rut. Was I allowed to do that program? (you know, that program that would have helped me?) No! McBride Career Group in Southcentre was already using my SIN number to derive funding from.."wolves in sheep's clothing" is absolutely the correct term to describe these people (and I truly have fact after fact to prove this!) They don't feel any empathy or compassion for you, like I said, they longer you stayed unemployed, the more funding they can derive from you. (so really, the better it is for them). I truly, truly believe that if there are resources will eliminate your unemployment, they are *not* going to point you in that direction. The good people of Calgary need to spread awareness of this tomfoolery. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

I phoned 6 companies, and as I asked my questions I ran into obstacle after obstacle. No one could provide me statistics on their sucess rates, no one provided me with any real world or tangible proof, until Resume Target. They answered all of my questions, provided me a basic plan, typical step wise progression, clarified what each "promise" and "guarantee" meant, and why they would recommend a particular writer for me. Vijay went thru 17 years of schooling with me, and sorted and identified the key components. As a PhD my entire focus is a tiny spectrum, not marketing myself and my knowledge. I felt so comfortable and uplifted by the sentences, phrases and wording the ViJay was pulling out of my pile of info, that I even confided in him the worst criticism I had ever received and asked him how we could go about honestly representing it. He told me that he could and would. Less than a half week later I received my first draft, I was blown away, I have never read something so amazing about my self that was so honest and flattering. I t covered my weaknesses in a beautiful sentence, and reading it made me smile. They over hauled my LinkedIn and less than a month after I am writing this reveiw, proud and happy to say that I got an email requesting an interview from one of their talent hunters. I paid for the highest level of service and feel I got it, and more. Could not be happier. Well worth the money, every step of the way.
