This place has terrible customer service. Granted, I am an English speaker, but this is health insurance for ex-pats, so why no employees (or just one or two) who are fluent in English? Translating letters to German is unnerving, and the people I talk to always have varying levels of English.
Additionally, their billing department is all out of sorts. While switching my plan, my customer account number changed. I let them know right away my payment had been made on my old number and asked if they could simply apply it to the new number to show that I paid. They said they would.
But then, I got a letter saying I didn't make this payment. I pointed out that I had, and was told everything was fine, and the mistake was on their end.
A week later, another letter arrives in the mail informing me that I am overdue and owe a late fee. I contested this and said I paid it, while they said they looked over my account and said I didn't pay. This process went on for about five months. Them saying I didn't pay, me saying I did, them saying they would look into it, then nothing.
I then attached copies of my bank statements and transfers and broke down each individual payment, when it was, and what it was for, and sent that in an email. They never responded. I contacted them again by phone, explained my situation for not the first time, and was told they would look into it and call me back the next day.
A couple weeks later, no call back, but a letter in the mail saying I still haven't paid. Finally, I wrote an aggressively worded letter in German and sent that by mail, along with copies of email communications with them. A few days later? A sincerely written apology saying that they have fixed the error.
It was at this point that I simply ended my coverage with them and switched to another insurance. It just isn't worth the hassle.
Overall, I would not recommend Care Concept. The level of coverage is minimal, the employees are non-communicative, and the left hand has no idea what the right is doing. Consider MAWISTA (for ex-pat student insurance) or bite the bullet and pay more for better service and care. read more
