After spending $2300 to have the electric corrected and put to code, we became suspect of the construction of the room itself. So, we had an Engineer come out and assess the porch. We were told not to use the room, because it was unsafe. We put stabilizer jacks under the porch to hold it up. I called AllTerra Constuction. They were one of two companies with a five star rating. Steve came out and looked it over. They put a new wall under the porch with a 4 foot foundation. A permit was pulled so we can make the porch into living space. AllTerra was very professional; excellent work, good price, courteous, complete clean-up, timely completion of the job. I highly recommend them. The yelp site states "good" response yet there are no reviews and that was certainly not my experience, so I don't understand where this "good" response time comes from. Jake was hired to complete an outdoor project that had been partially framed. All materials were available and purchased by me. He was a no show for the first estimate appointment and did not call. When I called him, he said he couldn't leave the job he was on but would come next day. No show again next day and when I called him again, he was on a job and would come in two hours. He did finally show up for the estimate, told me he could complete the job in two days' time and would get back to me that evening or next day with price. He did not. I texted him and called him several times and finally he confirmed price and day. He arrived on time scheduled day with a coworker. I reviewed what needed to be done and emphasized wind and sun protection were essential. I didn't want fancy and didn't mind some shimming, but construction had to be solid. Some panels were not centered, so a 4-foot section was left loose instead of centering the panel correctly so both sides could be secured. Other panels were overlapped so much that it left a 2-inch gap where the ends did not meet, but had they paid attention to detail and not overlapped the panels so much they could have avoided the gap. Two panels were left without any structural support center or bottom which would not hold in wind. I didn't notice all of the defects until looking closely next day so contacted Jake and asked him to come back and close the 2-inch gap and place 2x4 supports in front panels. A day and a half later he said OK, but I had to supply materials which of course I did. He gave no date or time to return so I requested he complete by EOD 8/31/25. No response. After ignoring me for a week I texted that I would have to post a poor review and take him to court if he did not return to fix these issues. Finally, he texted an apology and said his phone wasn't working and he would come the next day. He did not. He texted at the end of that day that he would come to fix issues the next day after a morning job and would keep me posted. I never heard from him again and he never showed up. Now I will be taking him to court. I am an elderly person on a limited budget and tried to find an honest reliable handyman that I could afford for this job. I even contacted senior organizations for a list of handmen I could trust but they offered no assistance. I have 4 grandsons and wanted to see this young man be successful, but he is not trustworthy and very disrespectful so I would not recommend him based on my experience.

In a panic I called Sterling Excavation & Sewer Services trying to find a company to come figure out what the problem was. Nick was prompt in coming to our home to inspect our line with a camera, finding the issue and providing a temporary fix until we could move forward with fixing it. The day they were to begin work they found a second issue that was not readily apparent beforehand. The job went from replacing a section of our sewer line to having to trench an entire new line. It created several challenges throughout the day but Nick and his crew met each one head on and worked through them without a blink of an eye. Even though I felt stressed and anxious by each challenge they encountered Nick kept me informed and reassured throughout the process. They worked efficiently and in a professional manner and took care to respect our property. They had to be in and out of our house, down in our basement and the process involved cutting concrete out of the basement floor, digging up a portion of our yard and part of the street. They took care to tape off the room they were cutting the concrete in and covered all of our belongings, vented the room and shop vac'd at the same time to reduce the fine dust that the cutting produced because we have small children at home. They also took great care to put everything back the best they possibly could when they were finished and worked to minimize the damage in every way possible. They were in and out all day, up and down the stairs and never once complained about opening and shutting the baby gate a million and one times or asked us to make accommodations and once we offered they respectfully declined so our toddler and baby could freely play upstairs. At one point they ran into an unforeseen complication with our water line which resulted in having to run an entire new line. This job basically followed Murphy's Law. If it could go wrong, it was like it was bound to go wrong but they took it in stride and worked well past dark to get us up and running again with water and sewer. This job wasn't covered by insurance and we were paying for it out of pocket. Our initial bid was for a section of the line to be replaced; a job that should have taken a couple of hours - definitely not 12+, and that was already discounted to begin with. I was nervous to find out what the financial damage would be at the end of the day but I was totally taken aback when Nick said a bid is a bid and the quote stood. I really have no words for how amazing this company is and has been to work with and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone and everyone. If you need the services they provide I would suggest they be your first and only call!
