That is what I found in Gurusurya. She's got "it" - a beautifully nuanced eye for capturing not just images, but true and honest moments. That is what you will take with you in her photos. Why else do we even keep photos if not for that? Beyond the scope of portraits and weddings, her sense of aesthetics and arrangements of space is also excellent. It's clear that she is a perfectionist and will work very hard to deliver an absolute perfect product.

Long overdue review here - finally getting to review all the great people who helped make our…read morewedding wonderful! I was referred to Eshani with Isla and Magnolia through another photographer who was already booked on the day of our wedding. I appreciated someone in the industry giving me a heads up on another photographer since they'll know better who can handle the job. I LOVED working with Eshani. She was easy to talk to, always available, clear on pricing details, and organized. I met with her a few times in person before the big day and she took her time going over ideas and really listening to what I was aiming for, as well as contributing ideas from her experience. I really enjoyed spending time with her and felt very comfortable and confident that she would be a great person to have with me on a day that's so built up. We had a second shooter,Felicia Kieselhorst, who worked with her the day of and they blended well together. She was really nice and came up with some creative ideas while working with the groomsmen. They took a TON of photos from various angles throughout the ceremony and reception and surprised me with some unique photos they took using our jewelry and boutonnieres. I was surprised at how many images they took since I barely noticed them weaving through the day (aside from our planned photos). We had a glitch in timing before the ceremony when we were supposed to do our First Look photo - the groom was late! So guests started arriving and walking around the tree area where we were supposed to take our photo. Eshani calmly handled it and asked the guests to kindly move to a different area, however we ended up deciding last minute that it would be too impossible for people not to see us since the venue was all open rolling hills. Eshani found a beautiful secluded place on the property that ended up working perfectly and I was so grateful for her fast thinking! She was with us all day and I really felt like she was just another one of my friends that joined our group. She maintained professionalism but really made me feel comfortable and we basically just giggled all morning until the ceremony. The pictures turned out amazing and I'm so glad I chose her for the most important photo day of my life so far. I would definitely recommend her.

Prior to the session, her communication was fantastic(responding to emails on vacation!) and was totally flexible when scheduling. The photos turned out amazing, she had them edited to us really quickly, and we'll treasure them for years to come. Icing on the cake, the quality for the price can't be beat! No doubt we will go to her first if we need a photographer in the future and I couldn't recommend Eshani/Isla and Magnolia enough!

After choosing Aeden from Groupon, I messaged Melissa on Instagram to see about scheduling. She was…read moreincredibly helpful, and I feel so lucky that Melissa nailed the feeling I wanted for our photos. Her assistant Kelsie was so sweet and their chemistry made it easy to chat with them and feel at ease the entire time. They were very accomodating of my mom who walked slower as well. Not only was Melissa able to accomodate our super limited availability due to having a guest in town, but she also caught that our humor isn't the goofy jumping in the air type. We have a far more intimate type of humor in our family and she drew it out beautifully. I now have a collection of photos with both my husband and mother that I could have never pulled off with just a camera on a tripod. Melissa had the timeline and locations down pat, and even though our group was a few minutes late, she was a breeze and ended up with over 200 images for my husband and me to review. Naturally I wasn't fully aware of the way pro photos are priced, but after doing more research on Groupon for a boudoir style shoot, I realized that of course the copyright is where the photographer's bread and butter is. That made far more sense than her being able to make money off $45 groupons. She was very transparent, and asked us to review her site at the end of the photoshoot, as well as spoke about the proofing during the shoot. Melissa is very friendly and frankly honest about where your value is for your photos. Since she helps you create your vision in the photos, you already have a lot to choose from that are spot on. She has a lot of experience assisting in you pare down when you're not sure, and that leaves you with a far more manageable number of photos to look through that you genuinely want to own the license to. I originally got from 200 to mid 40s and thankfully, she helped me narrow down again. Each of them were fantastic, and there were no closed eyes or awkward faces. I ended up with 24 when we were narrowing down, and would have had a truly difficult time had it not been for her fantastic technique of comparisons. She was able to assist us in choosing the images we felt were the best value and the most "Marie Kondo", if you will. We just couldn't live without them. Thank you, Melissa!
