Me and my group of 4 had FUN! I was a bit worried when I was reading the reviews AFTER we booked. But everything turned out GREAT and we had fun. When we arrived there was a short line, but it moved quickly. The women who checked us in was polite & friendly and the men were there to help us on the boat. We did the half-day trip and rode out about 1.5 hours before stopping to drop the lines to fish. The woman next to us caught a baby shark. Wow! The four of us caught 5 fish (10 if you count the ones we had to throw back for being too small). I even caught an eel!! AWESOME! But it got loose, I would have kept it. One guy had a full-size shark (we saw it) but after a 15-min struggle it got loose. Booo!!! I wish we would have had MORE fishing time and less travel time, but I didn't know. Next time we'll do a full day. They cleaned the boat while traveling back. You could smell the clorox. The bathrooms were clean as well, which was nice to see. We didn't eat from the snack bar, but they had a lot to offer, I was surprised. When we got off it was easy to get our fish cleaned, cut and bagged. We shopped while they cleaned the fish and everybody was pleasant. Generally, we had a fabulous time. So, check out Capt Stacy's fishing. You'll enjoy yourself.

I will start by saying that I'm only giving 4 starts because they do not accept American Express. However I have only positive things to say. We booked a private charter, half day. I explained that it was a family trip and my two toddlers will be on board (3 year old, 5 year old). They paired us with the Gale Anne, and I wish I could leave a review of the boat itself. They were amazing. The captain was nice and warm and playfully with my son. Telling him stories about his first fishing trips. The Mate "Mike" was an awesome guy. He helped my son get his first fish, which was not enough for Liam. He was red to catch something with his own fishing rod, a tiny rod. The Mate, prepared a special bait and got him his very own fish with Liam's own rod. They cleaned the fish for us we got a couple Spanish Maccarelles, and a great day out in the ocean.

Did an all day trip. Yes, a few people got seasick. This is north Carolina, the seas are rough. Take drama mine an hour before boarding. Long ride out to the Gulf Stream but fish were caught at each stop. We went out before grouper season so not much exciting to take home. Nice crew, friendly and helpful.

Captain chose to take us out in very rough conditions (less than 5 boats went out of Morehead…read moreCity). The conditions were not ideal for any experience level. We paid for a full day gulfstream trip, but because of the weather we were running slow and only made it a little past channel marker 14. We did not get to the gulfstream. The mate was awesome but the choice to go out was only about money. We had no business being out there for a safety concern and for the sake of we didn't get what we paid for. After coming back in the captain was unprofessional talking about our business finances and if we were using a business card and writing this trip off on the business etc etc . As we are very new to the offshore fishing world we then got an unprofessional text from the captain about the tip we left. The weather only proceeded to get worse for the rest of the week. We already had planned a have day inshore trip but because of our experience during the previous days trip and the weather being worse we asked to cancel. The captain stated "per cancellation policy etc" we chose to just pay the deposit we owed and not go on the trip. We continued to get numerous text messages about us canceling and hurting his business. A friend of ours called the captain about going fishing that day and he said no due to weather. Clearly the message trying to push us to go out was not in our best interest since the captain told someone else (within an hour of asking us to go out) that he would not be going out due to weather. I feel like this trip was all about money. I would not fish with them again!!

We did not book through a fishing charter company, but I have the captains number which I got off of Yelp. Even spoke with him at 6 p.m. THE NIGHT BEFORE getting to the charter to reconfirm. He says, "yes we have you down. Be there at 6 a.m." On the day of, we show up at 5:40 a.m. with our cooler packed, Dramamined up and ready to go only to be told they couldn't find the captain. Then at 5:50 a.m. (Captain is still no where to be found) we were greeted by another family who apparently were going on the same charter from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. Instead of the captain of the boat and the first mate consulting with one another about what to do, they looked at us (on the boat) and the family who had just arrived, and told us we would have to Rock Paper Scissors for the charter and figure out who could come back later in the day. The other family was quite rude and told us they had already taken Dramamine, and we had already done that as well. So being that they weren't making more money from us, weren't traveling as far nor were we staying out as long we were told to have a nice day as they drove off with the other family who arrived after us. Don't use them. They don't know how to run a business, tell people to Rock Paper Scissors for success, completely unorganized and unprofessional. It's 6:18 a.m. and the boat just left...

While the boat was halfway full with fishers, half of them were puking their guts out by the time we arrived to our fishing destinations. And, some of them were seasoned fishers. Go in the fall. Princess Carolina was definitely a huge improvement compared to the other deep sea fishing companies I've been to. However, I have to knock off a star for the lack of air-conditioning inside the boat. There were bothersome flies everywhere doing their witchcraft in this hot-blowdryer-in-your-face heat. For the money we're paying for a trip, a/c should have been included. Other than that, it was a good trip. It was awesome watching the mobs of jellyfish in the ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful with releasing our fish from our rods. I caught a lot of fish on this trip but none of them met the legal minimum size to keep. However, my party had fun before some of them got sick. Fish will be filleted for you for fifty cents per pound.

We were lucky enough to see a very large bull shark cruise past us. The boat was roomy and the ride was good. Fishing was so good we only used the cool and spacious cabin on the way out and back to port. Great value and a must trip with visiting family members. We are already looking forward to our next trip out.

The entire day was a flexible adventure based on our interests. Captain Jess was waiting for us at the dock with a hands-on lesson about the very local marine life (he collected everything from under the dock we were sitting on). He helped us get settled into the boat with all of our belongings, lunch and drinks, reviewed the safety rules and we were off! We had two 13 year old girls with us so the wild horses were a must. We also caught a fish, collected beautiful seashells, learned how to find clams (we took home a few dozen for dinner), tried our hands at cast netting, checked out the Cape Lookout lighthouse, and learned the names of some local birds. It may sound overwhelming but we never felt rushed, things seemed to flow naturally. If we were unsure what to try next Captain Jess was quick to provide suggestions without being pushy. The best part was Captain Jess' enthusiasm and knowledge about everything we did and all of the questions we asked. He genuinely loves what he does and it shows! Suggestions: Wear water shoes, flip flops will work but something that stays on your foot is best. Wear your bathing suit and clothes that dry quickly for getting on and off the boat. Get a fishing license - you'll never find a better teacher and you WILL catch something. (FYI: I've been a Yelp member for a few years but this tour is what finally motivated me to write my first review.)
