There's an emphasis on old Italian/Greek architecture in the courtyard and I was amazed to see it wasn't filled with people. This place appears in lots of the guides on where to eat in Palma, and was recommended by the taxi driver who picked us up from the airport, with good reason. Nice vibe, tasty food and decent prices - what's not to like. If you have not reserved a table you will probably have to stand at the bar to eat or wait with a beer while a table becomes free (on Thursday at 2.30pm we waited for 10 minutes to get a table). The menu is chalked up on blackboards but you can ask for a copy in English should you need it. The food is good but don't expect fine dining or the cutting edge of the culinary arts. The hot pinchos are the speciality of Tast and you will not go wrong if you stick to these along with the "minis". The crab, pork fillet, veal with roquefort and the oxtail with onion were all very good. We spend a couple of very pleasant hours grazing the menu and drinking a bottle of the good value house wine. We left well satisfied with a full stomach and a wallet happy to be only 40€ lighter.

The Tapas are bland and mediocre. The tortilla Espanola I ordered was a €5 greasy mess. Definitely a place for naive tourists who don't know that better and cheaper can be found within a block of this place. Addendum: one of the owners, a non-Spaniard, saw me writing this review and came to us with the bill. He heard my American accent and protested, "This is not the United States, things are different here." Right - they are. Everyone in Europe understands this scam. I've lived in Europe on and off for 25 years, speak several of the local languages, and know quite well when I am being ripped off.

Trying an Ensaimada from Mallorca was one of my top things to do, and I heard this was the place to…read morego! Overall, my experience was okay, and I was a bit underwhelmed. When we first arrived, we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes, which is typical (no problem at all). We knew what we wanted and ordered right away. We of course got the Ensaimada, apricot ice cream, two iced coffees (it was so hot, so we got iced, (I know what you're thinking, silly Americans)). If I could go back, I would get an espresso or cappuccino because I think it would have paired much better with the pastries. I also asked the server if he had any personal favorites he would recommend, and he brought us a Cuarto (sponge cake). This was not very good in my opinion. It was basically flavorless and very eggy. The Ensaimada was delicious! More oily than I expected, but still very good. I also loved the apricot Ice Cream! As to the service, when we were seated, our server was very dismissive and inattentive. We did not have silverware at our table. No problem. Figured it would be given to us once we got our order. Nope. After we got our food, our server ran away and never came back to us, so I never had the chance to ask for any silverware. Had to eat everything by hand. Thankfully the ice cream came with a spoon. The inside is not huge, and we were seated in a small table tucked away in the corner. Maybe that's why our server basically forgot about us. One tip is that when you're finished and ready to leave, you go to the counter to pay. The server will not come back and hand you your check (at least that's how it worked for us). I could tell there were a lot of locals and Spanish-speaking patrons, so if you're American or don't speak Spanish, don't expect them to be the most friendly. I dont take that too personally, just want to let other people coming here to know what to expect. Overall, I would come here again and recommend it to anyone coming to visit Mallorca.
