Not bad of a place. I took in a work vest in and they did a decent job. I would go back and try it again.

Since there are so few dry cleaners left in town, I was excited to see one when I drove by Capitola Cleaners. I just happen to have my silk bedroom curtains in the car so I dropped them off to be cleaned right then and there. I picked them up a week later, took them home and started to put them back up when I found they had shrank about six inches off the floor where they used to puddle onto the floor. Now I can't use them., they look terrible. There goes $400 I paid for them originally, plus the $63 they charged me to clean them. King's closed and we needed dry cleaning done so we thought we'd try here. WORST MISTAKE EVER. My husband dropped off his dry cleaning the other day. He wears Hugo Boss, so his dress cloths are pricey. EVERY SINGLE ITEM was worse when he brought them back to show them. Some had new stains, some had iron burns, some had hair (not ours-eww) and obvious not treated areas. The small man working said "It's not our responsibility to return your cloths clean" Well what did we just pay him for? We definitely didn't bring our cloths in, pay for a service and expect them have his cloths ruined! No apologies given, just an argument. No refund offered. No attempt to regain trust and redeem himself as a honest, integrous business man. Zero, nothing. I wish as the ones before me that we had read reviews first and known not to come here. Please do go to Capitola Cleaners if you want your clothing returned like a homeless just wore them. read more

This place SUCKS!!! Do not go here. I spent $28.00 ($8.00 dollars more than the city of San Francisco) on getting two curtains purchased from Crate and Barrel shortened. Not only were the two curtains different lengths, but the one curtain itself from end to end was a different length. I am a fool for spending $14.00 on shortening a curtain, should have done it myself. When I went back to make amends, they refused to give me my money back and also to adjust the curtains to the length I desired. I cannot stress enough to not go to this place!!! Am I the only person in Capitola who loves this place? I have a beloved comforter that was ripped in a few spots, as well as being pretty dirty. I took it in to be cleaned and repaired. A week later, I picked up a nicely packaged comforter. I opened the package in the car so that I could inspect it. The rips in the fabric had been repaired and the comforter looks new! All this for a very reasonable price. I just dropped off another one, and I'm certain that I won't be disappointed when I pick it up. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before coming here. Unfortunately it was so close to my work it seemed like a great idea. They ruined an $80 pair of leggings and did the WORST job stitching 3 of my items. And I asked them NOT to clean them just to repair them and they cleaned 2 and charged me for it! I don't usually use this place but as it is conveniently located I took several items in: - Took a knee length skirt in (part of a suit) and when I went to pick it up they had changed the price on the ticket and wanted to charge me for a dress. When I questioned this policy the owner told me I could go elsewhere in future. I questioned whether it was a good way to treat customers, and he told me they have plenty of customers and that he didn't care what I thought. - I then asked for my other items, One an expensive designer pink silk skirt there was a dark blue stain that wasn't there before, as recognised by the son of the owner who checked it in. The owner refused to try to remove it even though they caused it. I had to take it elsewhere and they tried their best but the skirt was ruined by this place. When people say they wish they could give a negative review I totally understand. read more

I have been coming here for a few years, and they have always been friendly. I usually get my clothes laundered rather than dry cleaned...it save money and they do a good pressing job, although they will not remove you collar cuffs and press the shirt with them off, often causing burns on the collars. They recently lost one of my shirts and once they were aware, I went from being greeted friendly to being treated like an enemy. They asked for over 3 weeks to find the shirt, once they decided it was not going to be found they asked me how much my shirt would be too be replaced, I stated 59.99 I showed the owner the Express website and the shirt, he proceeded to call me a liar and said he would check himself.. after his investigation he discovered the shirt was what I stated it was, and has told me he is sending me a check, but not the refund for the laundering he charged me for.. I stil have not recieved the check, and I can no longer recommend them because of how they handled my lost shirt.. They are great until something goes wrong, and then you can expect them to do anythign in there power to avoid replacing your garment.. Poor customer service and problem resoloution. read more

Took my diaper bag in to get cleaned a week ago, they said it would be done Wednesday. I finally made it in on Friday, the bag was not cleaned, the guy at the counter simply said his manager could not clean the bag, he did not know why. The WORST cleaners EVER!!!! Don't ever bring your clothes hear and if you do - it must only be as a last minute resort. Make sure you check your merchandise before you pay for your cleaning to make sure they return YOUR items and not someone else's. The phone# on the their tickets is wrong. So if you want to call them, they will direct you to the WRONG AREA code. When you do finally get someone on the phone - the owner himself will hang up on you. They have given away a blouse of mine that was $125.00 to someone else and are now telling me to produce the receipt. The blouse was purchased more than 6 months ago and I don't hold onto my receipts once the item has been paid for. They tried to give me someone else's shirt - that they clearly didn't get the stains out of either when I picked up my two other shirts. Again - THE WORST CLEANERS EVER!!!!!! Don't recommend. Hopefully this cleaners will go out of business and something nicer will open up in that space. Perhaps a pet store that sells organic dog food by honest people. These owners are not honest people, but instead mean and charge WAY TOO MUCH money and don't even do a proper job of cleaning clothes. I can't wait to take my clothes somewhere else. I wish I could give this place zero stars. I picked up my suit jacket and it was ruined. Stains covered the entire right hand side of my jacket that weren't there when I dropped it off. When I returned to ask the man behind the counter about why I wasn't notified my garment was damaged, he told me that I had made the stains and he refused to help. I should have read the rest of the reviews on this horrible business. If you don't want your clothes damaged, don't bring them here. read more

In picking up my wool shirt from Capitola Cleaners this morning I notice a few strands of animal hair and thread on my shirt. I pull back the plastic bag and brush them off as I load the shirt in the car thinking to myself, eh, no big deal. The shirt probably picked up the stuff after cleaning. I imagine that kind of thing happens in a dry cleaning shop once in a while. I drive off and notice a funky smell in my car. Like body odor and it's not mine! I reach behind my seat, grab the shirt and take a whiff... Sure enough, it's the shirt! I go back to the shop with my freshly cleaned, now smelly, shirt and ask the owner about what may of happened. He tells me there is nothing he can do, that "dry cleaning doesn't remove odor". Apparently, his dry cleaning process only applies odor, since it didn't smell like some other person's BO when I dropped it off. The shop owner made no effort to make it right so I asked for a refund. He refused, so I asked him again, explaining that he would be losing a customer and gaining a bad Yelp review if he refused. I was a good customer for just over a year .During that time they misplaced my wife's clothes once but eventually found them.We were given another customers clothes mixed in our order ,so we returned them.Then they lost my wife's $150 blouse .They never found it and said they would pay for it. Five times I went back for the check at times when Mgr./owner said he would be there with the check.Always an excuse or he would duck out of the store. Clearly he lied and never had any intentions of paying for the goods they lost. I took a white winter jacket that had a dark stain I wasn't expecting the stain to be removed but as winter is just around the corner I wanted my jacket cleaned, when I drop off my jacket they gave me a price and I though it was reasonable! the problem was when I went to pick up my jacket it had holes on the collar and where the stain was, when I ask and I refuse to take my jacket like that the owner said that my jacket was old and it was not her problem she grab the ticket an she said YOU HAVE TO READ THE BACK small print on the receipt. awful service not going back ever. read more

Dropped off a brand new white shirt I bought for a Christmas party. Just wanted it dry cleaned. When I picked it up, it had faded black smudges on back of collar. I asked them to redo the shirt which they did. When I came back, the stains were faded but still there. I was told to come back next week??? The woman had to show her "husband"...assuming he is the owner. I came back today to pick it up. The owner told me it was black or blue ink and that it won't come out. He tried everything he said. I told him I just bought the shirt and then took it to him for dry cleaning for a party. He said he didn't want to "argue" with me but that the shirt came in with the ink on it. I reiterated it's a brand new shirt, never worn! He continued to tell me, "how do I know the ink wasn't on there from the beginning?" It's a white shirt and I'm crazy OCD. I would have noticed that on a WHITE shirt! He put a plastic bag over the shirt and hung it up on the rack and started to walk away not wanting to further discuss the issue. I really would not give this company even one star, but it is automatically generated. I cannot express how disatisfied we were with their service. I brought them a VERY expensive area rug to be dry cleaned. They did not dry clean it, they washed it! The colors bled together and it turned an aweful yellow. When we went to pick it up the woman said she would have the owner call us. He never called. We called him days later and he proceeded to yell at us for not having picked up and paid for our rug yet. He would not listen to our plea and just hung up the phone on us. When we went to pick it up they told us we had to pay and it was OUR FAULT for wanting it done in a hurry, which was not true. They gave us the pick up date! They refused to even listen, let alone apologize for ruining a thousand dollar rug! And they demanded we pay them.
