I feel like this is one of the most important reviews I've made recently, I think I can save you a lot of money. First time coming to a football event downtown Indianapolis and I made the serious mistake of bypassing the parking lot at Victory Field (the beautiful AAA baseball stadium) openly advertising $20 parking. Victory Field is really the best deal within an easy walk of Lucas Oil Stadium, and I am going to kick myself for weeks for passing it up. Driving slowly in heavy traffic two hours before the Big 10 Championship kickoff the entrance to this garage had a worker waving in drivers, but she was strategically standing off to the far corner so I couldn't get her attention to ask "how much?" before making the turn into the long steep descent into the entrance. Once at the gate at the end of the entrance drive ramp, that's where I finally saw the rates, $50! I'm originally from Chicago, that's what I would expect to pay in the Windy on a Saturday night...which is why I always took the train to the Loop. This outrageous rate is as high as the premium parking right next to the stadium, but I didn't find out until I was way down this ramp with no choice but to go in. Okay for that much money this needs to be a much more luxurious garage. Instead, the spaces are designed for midsized sedans to have a tight fit, and two hours before the game I got waved in and there weren't any open spots. I had to back into a spot between two legally parked SUVs within their yellow lines and it was so tight I had to extract myself out of the window and climb over my car and the next car, in a (Wildcat purple) suit (it's my football thing) with my binoculars in my mouth. Now this was entertaining to the intoxicated Ohio State alumni who got to witness it, but I am sure the owners of the two neighboring vehicles would not have been amused. The most expensive parking in the area has the slowest egress out of the game. There just aren't enough exits, and the way it's designed it takes a long winding way to escape. I passed up lots of mostly empty parking lots driving away, and I left the game with the main outward surge. I guess you could say, I'm not a fan. The parking lot is attached to the Westin, which seems to be a very nice hotel. I don't know what the guest rates are, but I would surely ask before parking here and double check to see that there isn't a football game during your stay. read more
