The food isn't good enough to be worth a 90 minute delivery time. I called at the 60 minute mark and was told my food would be here in 10 minutes. I called at the 80 minute mark and was told it would be here in 2 minutes. I'm also 100% certain they're breaking child labor laws. There is a clearly unhappy child working their register. Wish I could give three and a half stars, it's just not quite all the way to four. Delivery was quick and the food was hot. Portions are good size and everything was yummy. It's definitely Americanized Chinese food, but compared to a lot of other takeout/delivery places in the same vein it's fresh and not greasy. Got crab rangoon and beef with snow peas. I have eaten inside of this restaurant once and had it delivered to my dorm about 3 times, one of which was a terrible experience (the food never arrived...) I think the food here is standard Americanized Chinese food. It isn't too greasy, which is good. The vegetarian "meats" are not good; the "chicken" is chewy and extremely bland. In the SFV of Los Angeles, I have had a fake chicken drumstick that actually tasted like chicken (yummy!), so I had high expectations. So if you aren't going to get meat in your food, get tofu instead of the fake meats. On the other hand, I think this restaurant is convenient for delivery because it is on Campusfood.com. You can order online and it will arrive in an hour, which is kind of a long time...well, longer than I am used to back home. Also, this restaurant has good value moneywise because you get large portions for cheap. There is a large selection of dishes to choose from as well. Last weekend, I was craving Chinese food so my boyfriend and I called Capital Corner. The lady asked for a phone number and my boyfriend gave his phone number. We ordered just over 2 hours before we were leaving to see Cornell's annual production of The Vagina Monologues, so we expected that we would have time to eat before we went. My boyfriend realized that he didn't get signal in my room, so we decided to wait downstairs by the Balch arch, where we asked the food be delivered to. We waited by the door for 1 hour LONGER the 45 minutes the lady on the phone said it would take for our food to arrive (no exaggeration). We called her several times between the 45 minutes and hour and 45 minutes, and she kept saying that she "thought the food was on its way." SHE WASN'T SURE?! How is that possible? So the food never arrived and we were off to see the show...On the way to the show, we called and the lady said that we didn't give a working phone number, so when the delivery guy called when he was near campus (NOT AT THE ARCH, where we told him to bring the food), he simply turned around and went back to the restaurant. It is extremely unfortunate that the delivery man could not follow directions that we gave. The delivery policy should not rely on phone conversations when specific instructions were given for the delivery spot at the time of ordering. It is unfortunate for my boyfriend that he didn't have cell phone reception in Balch because at this point I was incredibly hungry and cranky so I began to yell at him... The lady on the phone also said that it wasn't her fault...seriously? You own this restaurant and you will take no responsibility whatsoever for this ridiculous customer service. So, after the show we ordered from Jade Garden and enjoyed our food. We will not be ordering from Capital Corner ever again... read more

One day when I first arrived in Ithaca I was really craving General Tso's Tofu. I know, I know, it sounds weird but I'm a vegetarian and I've been able to get some really good General Tso's tofu before. Done right, you get nice thick tofu chunks golden fried and served with veggies and a nice brown sauce. Unfortunately, not very many Chinese restaurants carry this dish, so when I saw that Capital Corner did I thought I was in luck. Wrong. My General Tso's Tofu consisted not of delicious fried tofu pieces, but of pellets that were about the same size as cookie dough chunks. They were about the same texture too - mushy and not at all fried. Everything was covered in a strange bright orange sauce. I ended up throwing at least half of it in the trash. Well, today I had a Chinese food craving and I decided to go back to Capital Corner, more than a year after my first encounter. This time I ordered pan fried noodles. I'm pretty sure they were made from 99¢ ramen packages, and the noodles weren't cooked all the way. Based on these two incidents, I'm going to go ahead and say that Capital Corner sucks. read more

I used to love this restaurant for take out chinese food. I really like there sesame tofu and general tso's tofu. They were really great. Unfortunately, in my last order I found a green inch worm inside my rice. It was absolutely disgusting. I never called to complain about it but please be careful when eating here. read more

This has got to be the worst chinese restaurant in Ithaca. In addition to crappy service with staff that doesnt really speak english and high prices relative to other restaurants in the area, the stuff they do might be illegal. Last time i went, i found a cochroach in my food, so i complained to the owner. She went and got her husband, who just glared at me. He didnt really speak english, but ended up picking up the roach, eating it, and kicking me out of the store... i really dont know what to do at this point since i ate some of the food already, I just hope i dont get food poisoning. read more

i had a desperate craving for some noodles. like the kind thats kind of thick and just stir-fried with some meat, maybe a few vegetables (like napa cabbage onion and maybe a little carrot). i wanted these noodles very badly, and since I had an ok experience with capital corner in the past i assumed it would be ok for my serious noodle craving, so i ordered the chicken pan fried noodles. boy was i wrong. first of all, the food took double the amount of time it said it would to deliver to me. when i finally got my food all i could think about was how excited i was to finally get to chow down on these beautiful noodles i had been craving for hours. I get them inside and open up the bag. i see the box. instantly my stomach drops. theres celery. i try to hold of judgement to the best of my ability. i grab my chopsticks and open the box. immediately the smell of generic chinese food brown sauce hits my nostrils. my look of ambivalence turns into a frown. i move around the pile of crap vegetables and mediocre chicken to find noodles thinner than angel hair. these noodles are tiny. they are few. and they are sad. i feel a tear coming to my eyes. all i wanted were some noodles, and in this small town apparently that is too much to ask. i cried. i just wanted my noodles. i just wanted to be happy. not today said capital corner. i leave you with two things. if you want disappointing chinese food, this is the perfect place for you to go. and second, if anyone knows where i can find the noodles i so desperately crave in this town, please let me know. for i cannot truly live until i find the noodles i desire. read more

This is my favorite down and dirty Chinese food in town. It's not fancy or gourmet. It's not groovy and there's no locally sourced meat. The food at Capital Corners is what you think of when you think of American-style Chinese food. Generous portions, consistent, cheap, quick, tasty. It's the kind of food that leaves me saying "Ugh, I shouldn't have eaten all that". And when that's what I want...this is where I go. I've never been disappointed. Capital Corner now has a section for Japanese/Sushi. They do a FANTASTIC JOB. The fish is fresh and the rolls are both creative and delicious. Their Sushi chef must be great! Salmon Lover roll was my personal favorite for the last visit, but I encourage you to try anything on the menu. This place isn't just for Chinese take out anymore! (And I'll admit, I wasn't a huge fan of their Chinese, so I was a skeptic about the sushi restaurant at first). Their noodle dishes (I've had the Udon) and bento boxes are good options to try too, especially if you aren't into sushi. They now have an all you can eat dinner for 19 bucks (I think the lunch version is 12). It's not a buffet, you get to choose individual items and they keep serving till you are full - from edamame, to sushi, to noodles/rice, to green tea ice cream!! It was well worth it and everyone at the table had a great time sharing. Also to note that this place is BYOB, and the beverage center down the road has lots of fun complimentary craft beers. This is a really great place to bring out of town guests, or go on dates, and it can be a nice social evening all around. read more

I ordered schezuan tofu, and it was possibly the most disgusting Chinese food I've ever eaten (and I really like tofu -- it was just prepared incorrectly). They served the tofu raw and just smathered premade sauce on it. It wasn't even warm. read more

Had an excellent experience at the family run restaurant. Service was pleasant and prompt during a slow weekday evening. I ordered a dinner combo of Moo Shoo Pork which came with an egg roll and soup. Let's start with the wonton soup, wonderfully flavored rich broth with delicious moist house made wontons and freshly chopped scallions as a garnish. The egg roll ????? OMG!!!!!! A large fresh house made egg roll with fresh crisp vegetable filling and a crunchy, non-greasy, shell. The entree was a large portion, served piping hot, with roast pork fried rice. I couldn't finish the entree portion, and had enough for a small lunch the next day. The service was attentive, and pleasant, as the young server keep my water glass filled with 3-4 visits to check if all was going well. I will definitely be back and keep this as one of my favorite places for dinner when I visit my kids at school in Ithaca. read more

I'm Chinese and this is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever had in my life. I have no problem with Americanized Chinese food and I do have Panda Express once in a while. The previously frozen food were not cooked throughly and the dishes we ordered were not fresh and tasteless. However, I am guessing most of the positive reviews are from their sauce stir-fried meats from dinner combos. If you are unfortunately enough to be eating here, do not be adventurous and order something that requires any Chinese food cooking knowledge. read more

Don't bother. The serving sizes are generous, but the quality is lacking. Eggrolls are soggy and chewy. Pork dumplings are slimely, do not have much flavor, and the sauce served with them is tangy to the point of being sour. General Tso's chicken has absolutely no spice and overall is quite bland. There is much better Chinese food elsewhere in Ithaca. Try Ling Ling Garden in the Judd Falls Plaza (no delivery, but certainly worth the trip) or Jade Garden on Aurora Street (offers timely delivery). read more

Overall, I like the food at CC. Most of the menu is Americanized BUT if you are looking for some real Chinese food, check out their rice plates and some of the noodle dishes. The combo menus are typical fried crap you can find everywhere but there are some quality dishes like the roasted meat (pork and duck) rice plate, noodles with pork and bean sauce etc. Their steamed dumplings are also good but you have to request them. My suggestion - go in and talk to the lady and explain that you want "less fried" food. That is the trick! read more

Food is decent, just don't bother ordering delivery. Two hours went by after I ordered (from GrubHub, never had a problem with them)... so I called the restaurant. Apparently GrubHub never sent my order... however the person answering the phone knew exactly who I was and what I ordered as soon as I gave the address. Half an hour after that, my food finally arrives. I take my bag from the delivery man and go to put it down behind the desk, and he asks "what, no tip?" Excuse me?
