We had to hit town center last night and didn't want to do a chain...so we looked up capers . It was great in some respects and ok in otters . Nothing really awful and some high points - as we get more efficient, the owner operates places stand out nicely . When the owner cares, you see it in the food, the service and the vibe. This place is busy...and it's busy with regulars so that's a good sign. Our server Meg was everything you want in a server. Funny, nice, knew the menu and she cares. You don't find that at chains The place is dated...tile floor ...feels very cold, but it's nice enough . Needs a face lift for sure The bar area looked very cool but it's loud in there The food....it's tasty no doubt...but it's tasty because it's a little heavy...90s heavy I appreciate that there are specials...that is a good sign..it's a chef and food driven place ..or tries to be - crab claws...no..it's not Joe's in Miami...but tasty. A good number of small claws in a heavy tasty cream sauce with bread. The capers salad was the best thing we had...fresh, tasty and the roasted tomato dressing was wonderful - Branzino special...tasty and heavy. Delicate fish covered in a balanced clam and shrimp roux. It was tasty but must have been a thousand calories - bbq salmon...you get a lot of food for the price. It's ok...good...the potatoes, green beans are heavy All in all....would I make a drive? Probably not..but if I was there, would I swing in to support a local business working hard? Yeah...sure I would read more

It had been a while since we had been to capers. We started our dinner off with the oysters Rockefeller. They were absolutely outstanding. We had a wedge and a house salad and all agreed we would order the house again and not the wedge. The wedge was easy but the house was more interesting. I had the herb crusted grouper and it was delicious. The lemon caper beurre blanc sauce was so tasty and the perfect compliment to this dish. Other dishes ordered at my table: steak Oscar with wasabi masked potatoes got rave reviews from my boyfriend. The crab meat was in huge chunks and well worth it! No tiny but if shredded crab here!! My mom got the lamb and even with the half order wasn't able to eat everything. I got the kale salad as a side and it was tasty. For dessert the pumpkin creme brûlée, which tasted a bit too much like pumpkin pie filling for my liking. It was good, I think I would just prefer to eat regular crème brûlée. Service was outstanding and we enjoyed our time in the bar while we waited for a table. A lovely evening all around. read more

My hubbie and I made a reservation here for our 6th wedding anniversary. We thought about getting a small cake from publix to bring it to the restaurant but we decided not to because it was only the two of us. Upon arrival we were quickly seated. We ordered drinks, appetizers, meals and the strawberry dessert. My hubbie kept complaining about how dark it was in there, but I was ok with the ambiance. So we ordered the strawberry short cake dessert and we requested that they write "Happy Anniversary" on the plate, but our request was turned down. After spending around $140, you would think they would honor that simple request. I was disappointed to say the least. If you want a restaurant to acknowledge your special moments like birthdays or anniversaries, then this is not the place for you. Ok so this restaurant was recommended by some friends who come here often and I decided to give it a try. So we attempted to attend about 3 months ago and we came In for dinner around 6:30pm my husband and two teenage children we were told at the door it was reservation only so we were like ok we will try another time and we left. There was a live band performing and they sounded great. So my husband decided to book a reservation for Mother's Day we had one at 8:15 and we arrived at 8:00 and was told that they were running a half hour behind so we had to wait in our car for about 45 minutes to receive a call to come In. once seated we were told by the waiter that the kitchen is a hour behind so we waited for 45 minutes and now we have to wait an hour for our food wow this is crazy. Well it's Mother's Day was my thought and we decided to ride it out looking around it did look like many people were waiting on their food and looking very upset and hungry so it was true the kitchen was behind we didn't get our food until about 10:00. about the food I wanted to try the lamb chops was told they no longer had any more. my daughter ordered a burger and fries to later be told right before the food came out that they were out of fries .my son had pasta, It came out first he was just about done with his crab and shrimp pasta before everyone else food came out. All for having dinner together -my food came out maybe ten minutes later I had catfish cucumber salad and mashed sweet potato it came out in sections I was already half way done with my food cat fish and sweet potato before the salad came out again. right before my daughters burger came out we were told no more fries - burger and fries are simple you knew you didn't have fries why would you wait until you bring out to let us know we had been waiting so long already whatever, so she got sweet mashed potatoes and then we were just about done eating before my husband food came out he had grouper wasabi mashed potatoes and the kale salad so because the food came out sporadically we should have been able to eat in peace nope, now were being rushed to eat the waiter came by a few times asking if we were finished when food was still on our plates and so my husband was annoyed and said something like we waited and now you wanna rush us out cause the restaurant is closed and you're ready to leave. The waiter apologized and walked off. We are trying to have dinner and we're talking to one another my husband had a little bit of fish left and potatoes but we were talking and laughing and the waiter approaches again and grabbed the plate to then be told by my husband that he's not finished. This is absolutely ridiculous why should I have to tell you for. 2nd time I'm not finished. The food was seasoned well but the service was horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place. The inside was pretty big and spacious not to cause any problems we just ate and left didn't mention anything to anyone and no one came around or over to our table to apologize or ask how we were or anything. Very busy and seems like a community favorite. I didn't care for it. I'm from Baltimore so I knew not to order the crabcakes ... I should have not ordered the claws. Pasta with shrimp and crab ... the crab was the same harvested-to-soon crab claws. If you don't know good seafood than you'll like it. read more

Really amazing food!! Everything we ate was to absolutely die for. I wanted to give this a 5 but the service was a little slow for our table specifically for some reason. There were people around us that showed up later and ordered after us, yet they got all their food and drinks well before us. We had to flag down a different waitress twice to get ours to even come out and talk to us. read more

Capers is one of my all time favorites next to Fish Thyme (same owners, different vibe). Veronica, owner, is absolutely amazing AND stunning. The food that Chef Dudley prepares is delicious and I have my favorites from the menu that I choose every time: Bruschetta Fried green tomatoes Rum cake Strawberry shortcake Spinach lasagna Wasabi mashed potatoes That's just a list of my go to's but I've literally tried half the menu between my vegan and non vegan days (that's how long they've been around and how long I've been dining with them). The crusted grouper is always good here. We love this place. Never had a bad meal or experience.

The food in the hostess and a waitress oh really nice, but there is a woman Dale who never smiles. She's extremely rude, very nasty, and they need to get rid of her. That is the only reason why I did not give this place a five star. read more

We have been eating at Capers since it was half of a small house right next to the RR tracks in Kennesaw. Back then, Capers was clearly a 5 star location with both owners highly engaged in the day to day running of the restaurant. Our last stop at the current location was average at best. The food , the service , and overall experience has slipped. Many times as owner operators expand to multiple operations sadly this happens since no employee or management team will have the passion that an owner has. I think we will pass from now on but remember the experience in that little building by the RR tracks! read more

As many times as I've been to GA I never even knew this place existed. It says it's been in business since 2004 and once you get inside you can tell. Other than needing some renovations and new table wear this place didn't let me down. The service, dining music and the food was on point. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, it wasn't the best I've had but it wasn't the worst either. I got the Hawaiian ribeye and it was spot on with Houston's. I paired it with mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli both were delicious. I took home a slice of German chocolate pecan pie (I had my mind set on a slice of butterfinger cheesecake but they had no cheesecake) it came with ice cream. It was the best I've had. read more

I have to update my review just to add something about Capers service/experience! I go to Capers A LOT...I mean some times multiple times in a week..A LOT! And I've never had one bad experience. When you go somewhere so many times, you usually always have a favorite bartender or a favorite waitress/server. I give Capers kudos because I've really never had a bad server BUT they truly have a few who are exceptional! Vanessa being one of them! We come to Capers almost every Saturday after the boot camp and get the same exceptional service from her every time! She knows our order, she takes care of all of our needs without hovering and always has great conversation! The hostess pretty much knows, that we want to be sat in Vanessa's section! The food is always top notch at Capers, but when you go, ask for Vanessa so you get the best of everything! read more

Things were looking good in the beginning being this was my 1st time visiting Capers. Loved the calamari to say the least. Have been there several times, the food has been very good!! My only complaint is the rude hostess when I tried to make a reservation for a Thursday at 5:30, called a day in advance, wanted a reservation for 6 people, 4 Adults and 2 teenage (13 and 16) young Ladies, on the patio side of the restaurant! She told me at first they did have a reservation available and after excusing herself, came back and asked me if we had any children and I said 2 teenage young ladies and she immediately said they had no availability!!! I said for the whole evening and she Rudely said NO!!! My guests were visiting from New Jersey and were really looking forward to going to Capers after us telling them about it!! We were hear to celebrate a friend of ours birthday. I was a bit reluctant about it due to were it was. This restaurant is a quite surprise to be found in a little strip mall situation. It is certainly one of the fine dining restaurants in Kennesaw and I am surprised that it was not a stand alone. The service was fast and very friendly, but it certainly was not rushed. We went during a time in which we were not eating meat and was still able to make some great selections from the menu and be happy about them. I have heard about brunch. Overall great food! The service was a bit slow, Im not sure if thats because our server had too many tables but generally it took a while for our wine to come. Then she brought one glass but none for my friend. We ordered appetizers and completely finished before she came back to take our entree order. But we were out celebrating birthdays so while it was slower service we were not in a rush, we had a great time/conversation and the food was good! Enjoyed a wonderful ladies lunch for my first visit to Capers. Tried the Capers Salmon Salad and it was quite delicious. I asked for the Salmon to be cooked medium rare and it was done perfectly. The salad was fresh and crisp and the fried beets and other toppings were all delicious. All the food was delivered to our group of 12 quickly and correctly and our servers were friendly and attentive. The food, service and atmosphere all made for a wonderful lunch. The ambience felt warm and welcoming. The waiter Andrew was nice and helpful. My baby got the chicken tenders and fries. The tender did look a bit weird and he did not like the taste. He gave me a thumbs down. I got the Caesar salad and the blackened chicken pasta which was good. Next time I'll ask for extra chicken. I also ordered the steak burger to go for dinner. I have now dined here 5 times and it is the most consistently excellent restaurant in the Atlanta metro area. We have brought several couples to dine with us and they share our high recommendation. The food is outstanding and the price point is the lowest for the atmosphere, service and live entertainment! It is a must destination for Atlanta fine food diners. The seafood selection and execution beats all of the other establishments in metro Atlanta. read more
