One of the best YMCA locations around. It's very clean and the equipment is well-kept. The person at the front desk was helpful.

I love the balance of OTF workouts between strength training and cardio…read more I visit Canton OTF every time I'm back in town visiting my family. My home studio is Playa Vista, CA, and there are so many studios in LA it's easy to bounce around. All this to say, I've been to many studios, and this is right up there with some of the nicest. The treads are a little outdated, but they're still nice. The studio is clean, always seasonally decorated to motivate and bring joy, and the coaches are great. Cassie and Lexi are my favorites because they give clear/helpful feedback and corrections, bring great energy, and are super motivating. If you're on the fence, I say you should jump in and give it a try!

No, that isn't the logo for Cingular wireless. That is Orangetheory. And it is a pretty awesome…read moreworkout class. The gym situation seemed pretty dismal here in North Canton until I was leaving some mediocre sushi and saw the Orangetheory logo and made my coworker pull over. One of the best things about OTheory is that first class is free. So even if you have no interest you might as well just get in there for a free class to check it out. Freebies rock, right? Structure of the class is 1/2 the class on rowers and 1/2 the class on treadmills. The instructor will call out instructions to the treadmill folks and rowers back and forth. The rowers have a sets of time they go for and then will be instructed to head to the weight area where there are TRX, weights, mats, and step boards where the instructor will demonstrate the circuit they will perform. There is also a screen to show the circuit training you will be doing and number of reps. This goes on for the first half of class. The those on the treadmills switch with those from the rowers. The goal of the class is to be in the orange zone on your heart rate which is the optimal cardio zone. It is definitely nice to see the stats and get a feeling for your calories burned. You don't have to buy the monitor for yourself if you think you might only do the one visit per week option like me. In that case it is $5 each time. But if you think this will become your thing it is worth it to buy your own device for $50. The first visit is a free rental. Happy working out!
