The hotel is of modern construction and the comfortable rooms all have on suit shower rooms, tv's, tea, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. All rooms apparently have a view of the Cathedral. The hotel does not serve dinner. Breakfast has been ok: service a bit slow if you order "English Breakfast", quantities of tea and coffee have been the best I have ever seen in a hotel. Service is friendly and courteous, both at breakfast and at the reception. Recommended!

I only stayed there one night, but I think I got a really nice impression of what this place is like. Actually the reception is only open for Sam hours of the day, as it is just a piece of beef and not a hotel with a 24-hour reception. But on the day of my arrival, there were major traffic disruptions, so I could not make it in time. I called and they helped me out very friendly. They granted me a possibility to get in even doing the night, and it got one until I arrived. If there would have been any problems, I am of no doubt that I could have reached him when calling. When you arrive, you are asked to choose your breakfast: you can choose between a full English breakfast, a continental breakfast and scrambled eggs with salmon. As I read online, at the full English breakfast is really good at that place, I of course chose English breakfast. The next morning comma my breakfast was prepared in the very moment I arrived and the atmosphere was very sympathetic and open. Another family, who was visiting some friends in town, did get all details possible they needed to have a look around the city. And as my appointment did not take part because of the weather disruptions, I asked whether I could stay in the breakfast Lounge till my train leaves and they would let me although they were not lodged and even some hotels sure you wouldn't have the letter stating that breakfast area. I even had a really nice chat and even though the breakfast was over, I was asked if I needed any more drink, so I thankfully accepted to have another coffee. The room was very cosy and had all the details you could expect from a 4 star room. The selection of sweets, like a sweet before you go to bed or a cookie to drink with a cafe or a tea was really delicate. Also the selection of tea and such was really nice, I tried the red berry tea and it was really strong and amazing taste, nothing you would expect from any random fruit tea. They put in a fresh milk in the hotel bar so I put it in my coffee. That is the first time I've ever seen this amount of passion for your guests. Every time again, I would choose this place over a four star hotel that could be comparable in terms of price for accommodation.

The location is great; very short walk into the center of town. There were a total of 3 heaters in the room (1 of which is in the bathroom). It was very chilly when I arrived, and it was so nice to thaw out in a warm space. My room - the Victoria - was quite spacious and had very lovely artwork along the walls. Cute little couch, too. There is a small "lounge" with a computer and mini fridge. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on the food. Wi-fi is available in the lounge, but the owner said it's availability in the rooms varied depending on location in the house. Our connection was pretty good on the ground floor. We had stayed 3 days at a neighboring B&B (Number One Guest House) and the difference was night & day. Churchill was superior in every way. Bit more expensive, but worth it. The reason for 3 stars is simply the bed. All I felt were the metal springs. So uncomfortable, creaky, and sloping toward the center. Whether an establishment is a hotel, B&B, guesthouse, etc. I feel the most important aspect is the bed. We're here to spend the night, yes? Then let's not keep using mattresses when they are years past their expiration date. Maybe the beds in the other rooms were better? I can only hope. Note on payment: Their website says Paypal is accepted, but upon arrival we were told cash only. Check out time is 10AM. Overall, I would recommend, but check the mattress before committing to a room. If they do upgrade the beds, I'd be happy to come back and update my rating to 5 stars :)

I…read morefound Yorke Lodge online and from making a reservation months ago to returning the key as we departed, our experience was as good as it gets. Our room and the entire home is immaculate. Our accommodations were clean, very comfortable and, as is the rest of the home, impeccably decorated. Owner Vicky is delightful and our interactions with her were what made our stay so delightful! Yorke Lodge is an easy and enjoyable walked to downtown Canterbury and all its shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend Yorke Lodge!

This was my first time to Broadstairs and having visited quite a few different seaside locations in…read moreEngland previously, I was pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty of Broadstairs and it's surrounding bays. To my delight there were no garish waterfront arcades to be seen, just a quaint little village/town with plenty of friendly locals. Cloonlara Bed and Breakfast is not even 5 minutes walk to the waterfront and the great choice of restaurants and pubs of the village. Only 10 minutes walk from the train station, it is easily accessible from London and well worth the 1hr 20min journey from St Pancras. It is a beautiful home with only 3 guest rooms, so you must book early if there are more than two of you in your party. The rooms are spacious and cleaned to a high standard, with lovely smelling fresh linen on the beds and in the bathroom. Breakfast on the terrace at Cloonlara is a delight on a sunny day and always served with a smile by Bernadette with Brian poking his head around to offer his brilliant knowledge of the area every now and then. The terrace is also accessible to guests to use in the late afternoon/early evening. This is a perfect way to rest after a long days walk around the bays and for pre-dinner drinks. Cloonlara beats any other B & B I have stayed at, hands down for value for money. We definitely want to stay here when we visit Broadstairs again.
