These stalls are really handy if I happen to be in town when the markets are on and save me a trip to the big Tesco. As well as food for most pets they stock a large range of bird feeders, padded dog and cat beds from £6, collars, leads, flea drops, shampoos, dog chews from 40p, cat toys which can be used for rabbits too and, if you have a big dog, you can get a ginormous bone for just £2 called a 'postman's leg'; that's value for money right there!

Most importantly my puppies adore her, they no when she is due and both sit waiting for the sound of her van to pull into the street and when it does their reaction tells me everything, two more excited, happier dogs I have yet to see. On occasion we see Sarah when we are out walking, every time we do my little yorkie will not leave her side, she is showered with love, affection and kisses, I have to drag him away from her, he would leave me in a heartbeat to go with her. That to me says everything about Sarah and the love she has for the dogs and how they feel about her. Like I said wonderful service, wonderful woman.

Ashwood has a small clinic…read moreon Holland Road, a quick walk from town centre, with their main surgery located 2 miles north in Four Oaks. The local Sutton clinic features one veterinarian, nurse, and office manager. Even with a small staff, the hours are impressive. I've typically been able to call their office in the morning and get an appointment for our dog the same day. The clinic has also been able to rush documentation for a pet passport so that our dog could visit the European Union with us. The staff are very professional, and the prices quite reasonable. Dr. Simon Perry is amenable and funny, and really cares about your pet. I can rest easy, knowing that our dog is looked after by such an excellent veterinary clinic.

There's a whole separate section clearly marked 'Bedding Plants' so if you are buying one for a gift then you don't have to look a fool by asking if what you have in your hand is suitable. They have a good line in Asiatic plants including the bizarrely named Mount Duckling. Inside is a modest array of pets including budgies, and some toys and feed for pets too.

I've bought my fair share of lavender plants, marigolds and chrysanthemums from here, and they're still growing steady in my garden. Lots of gardening shops I've been to sell plants that look unhealthy and weak, but Pets & Gardens makes sure that it only sells strong and multi-flowering plants (which is exactly what every gardening shop should do!) The inside of the shop is a little small, and very few people can fit in at one time. There's a few cages at the back which contain small pets. I nearly bought a hamster from here last year, but the staff didn't know which cage was for males, and which was for females, which I found a little worrying. Pets & Gardens is great to buy bird seed from, and costs as little as 60p for £250g. I always buy the seed from here for my outdoor feeders.
