At 2:31 pm an employee approached us and rudely said: "it's closed, you have to pay, now!" Directing us to the cash registers. They had already closed the shutters and we couldn't leave (kidnapping?). Finally a security guard arrived and opened the door halfway without giving us time to return the trolley inside and therefore also losing the euro used to unlock it. What a shame. At 2:39 pm the shop was empty and closed. They shouldn't have let us in or warned us that they were about to close. Obviously we will never set foot in a Masymas supermarket again.

Masymas is a local grocery chain of some 120 stores that recently celebrated its 30 years…read moreanniversary. The store that visited recently is close to the beach and the marina of Altea. Clean hall, wide choice of food and drinks, reasonable prices (especially considering their seafront location). You need a Masymas if you are renting an apartment instead of staying in a hotel, which is very common. The store was quite busy when I visited - people were loading up on wine and jamón after the day spent on the beach. I guess they deliver to homes, there was a delivery van parked outside. You can sign up for their loyalty program in-store and get some discounts.
