We paid $400 for x2 highland cow smash cakes and x100 highland cow cupcakes. I go to pick my order up and immediately I knew they did not do the fondant work on the cupcakes. They only used frosting. This made the highland cow faces on the cupcakes look like mushed & melted blobs. I was furious. Disappointed and angry, I took the cupcakes to my daughter's birthday and these cupcakes were all frosting and barely any cake. The cake section of the cupcakes was also very dry. Truth, my heart was absolutely shattered. I was looking forward to our order for so long! To go to pick it up and be crushed and disappointed for my daughter, I was steaming. Did I say we paid $400 for this order? I'll say it again. $400 dollars for x100 awful cupcakes, again, probably over frosted to cover up the dryness of the cupcakes; cupcakes. I uploaded photos of their lazy work. I texted the boss and the only thing she said was that they didn't do the fondant work. Vanilla cake. 1) Taste & texture - the frosting was delicious but the cake was crumbly, dry and way too dense. It had a very coarse texture, not fine, soft & moist as it should be. The taste was average at best. 2) The look was beautiful.. the frosting and decorations were simple but wonderful and appropriate for the birthday. 3) The price was absurdly high. Over $80. for a quarter sheet cake that was dry & crumbly. The same size cake from a very nearby 2 grocery stores would have been $20-25 at one and $30-40 at the other.. less than half the price for a better product. Even the guests at the birthday party commented on the texture of the cake and someone said they had the same experience at the same price. The car wash connected to the candy and cake. First of all, I went to the car wash and paid 13 dollars. I waited for the car wash to start and it never started. It is a scam never go there. They gave me a phone number to text. I asked for a refund, Dan would not give me money 13 dollars back. I would never go back. I had to wait 2 weeks to go back to the carwash. I DO NOT recommend CANDY & CAKE in Bourbonnias... I ordered a cake on Monday 6/10/24 , I paid 90.08 for a 1/4 sheet of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream icing. I wanted it for today, Saturday 6/15/24. That gave them 4 days to bake and decorate the cake. (They must've felt that was acceptable amount of time as they agreed to do the order and charged me. ) I gave them free reign with decorating. Told them to go with a summer theme. As the cake was for father's day, a pool party and my birthday. The decorations were very juvenile and honestly looked like they spend 5 minutes to slap it together. The cake is dry. The filling tastes like a cream filling not chocolate mousse. It tastes like a frozen cake that was iced at the last minute. My adult children were shocked at how bad it tasted. And they laughed at the decorations. NEVER AGAIN!! My regular baker was booked. Next time ill put in an early order with her UPDATE. Using the GrubHub app, I ordered lunch today for the first time at Mr. Beast / Candy & Cake at 596 William Latham Drive in Bourbonnais, IL 60914. I ordered 2 burgers and an order of the Signature Crinkle Fries (seasoned). My burger, the Beast Style was just average. Halfway through eating the burger, I bit into a long black hair and gagged and almost vomited up my lunch. The Signature fries were supposed to be seasoned, but were plain with absolutely no flavor - not even salt. Their website says they will be seasoned with spicy red pepper, garlic, paprika, sugar and a hint of lime. This was not true they were as plain as plain could be. My wife's burger was the Chandler Style and it was just average at best. I will probably never eat at this location again in the future! read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had. I had someone lined up to bake a cake for my daughters wedding. She let me know 3 months before the wedding she could not bake it. I looked online and Christine called me from this location. I explained to her what we were looking for. This was a very simple cake. Three tiers, white with navy blue ribbon border and two or three small lillies. I sent her a picture and told her that my daughter wanted buttercream and not fondant. She assured me they could do the cake. My daughter and her grandparents met with christine to taste the different fillings offered. I am in North Carolina and the wedding was to be in Kankakee. My daughter did taste the fillings and said they were wonderful. She picked what she wanted and Christine advised the cake would not be smooth like the picture, using buttercream there would need to be a texture. This is normal with buttercream so my daughter agreed. We also explained we would be putting a topper on the cake. At no time did she ask about the topper. Not the size,kind weight...nothing...she quoted me 475.00 and said it included delivery and set up. I paid her the total amount two months early. I arrived in Illinois a week before the wedding and stopped in to the store to check and make sure everything was good for the following Saturday. I was advised that Christine would call me. She did call me back in a timely manner and expressed that everything was on schedule and the cake would be delivered by 330 pm Saturday. Wedding day. The ceremony started at three in another room at the same venue. When we came out i was a little wrapped up in some other things and did not get over to the cake until around 530pm. I was completely mortified on what i walked up on! This cake was a total complete mess from top to bottom. Each layer was a different height... the cake was put on a round base and covered in aluminum foil like grandma used to make for her "fancy" cakes, the bottom tier was flat and the "texture" she was talking about was actually just slopped on like an everyday homemade birthday cake. I think the cake was still warm when they frosted it as it had spots where,what was clearly canned frosting and not buttercream, had melted into the cake...there was no crumb coating put on this cake. The boarder which should should have been ribbon, was some kind of paper that was ripped and not cut and the clear seams where the came together were in different places on each layer...the second cake was taller but not centered on the first cake and there was no attempt to attach the tiers to each other. The top tier was split in half and base for the acrylic topper still stuck in it. The acrylic ingraved topper still full of frosting and laying on the linen table cloth behind the cake! Later, I found out that the baker who was supposed to bake the cake backed out, the beautiful flowers were made by someone else, the cake was a frozen cake and she never did dispute the frosting being canned...she refused to refund me a single dime...her offer to make this right was to bake another cake for free??? She said the problem with the cake was the topper...she did not stay and wait for me to come out to speak to me, she never told me she had to get another baker, she made no attempt to fix the mess and blamed me for the cake being a mess... all of the pictures on her page were taken from other websites..i say, take your chances and pay a little more with a home baker showing their own work. It may cost a little more, but its worth it...go to walmart before you pay this lady a dime! read more
