There are so many other options for Mexican cuisine in Decatur that there is literally no reason for anyone to slum at this dirty, nasty little dive. The service is terrible, everyone is rude, the restaurant is filthy, it made us all sick, and it's just too expensive when I could better food down the road at Taco Bell and enjoy it more. And some customer got drunk and the staff were fighting with him and screaming. It's obviously going under and hopefully when they go bankrupt a better restaurant will fill the space. I ordered meals through DoorDash for my family of three the other day. Two of the meals were delivered, but the other one wasn't, leaving us to try to figure out what we were going to do for the third meal, as we could not get out. My husband called Cancun to explain what happened, and he was told to contact DoorDash to get our money back. When my husband pointed out that the restaurant was the one that made the mistake by not paying attention to the items in the bag, the person on the phone from Cancun was extremely rude. He hung up on my husband and would not answer when my husband called back. Then i called back and had the same experience. Although DoorDash is responsible for the billing, the restaurant is responsible for making sure all items are placed in the bag. We have had similar experiences with other restaurants, and they have managed to make it right. It's a shame Cancun couldn't. It's even more of a shame they couldn't treat customers with at least a basic level of respect. read more

My mother and I were soooooo excited, we always drove by trying to see if Casa had opened yet, as we are such fans of good Mexican cuisine. And what a complete let down! We came in around 6 pm last Saturday, Jan 24. So it was active but not so busy that they were slammed, so the poor service we received (more on that later) was inexcusable. Folks at Casa Fuentes, I am writing this review in hopes you will read and IMPROVE your faults, because Decatur needs more excellent cuisine and our first experience there is NOT one that would make us return! Now I will say when you walk in the atmosphere was charming (this place once housed Carlos O Kelly's) and the decor is fun, the sounds of Mariachi music fills the place, and you get a warm friendly greeting. Well, sadly after we were sat, I knew our server did not have it together! First of all, my mom and I are excellent to servers; she is the sweetest, and I have been a server myself, so we are very good ladies in which to have as your patrons. We are not demanding and give a "please" and "thank you" when asking for service! One of the biggest mistakes our server made was to come to the table right next to us, then walk away without seeing if there was anything we needed, so when we did get her attention, we had to ask her to multi-task quite a bit, of which was not her strong suit, Not to mention, she did not have a very warm personality for serving, which is something that can forgive a lot of short comings as a server (voice of experience here!) Here is an example: my rather poor meal (more on that later) arrived minus the guacamole which listed in on the menu (trust me I checked). When I requested it, her answer, instead of "sorry let me get that for you", was "O you have to ask for that......" Well......NO...... because it's listed on the menu, Dearie! By the way, even after requesting it, I never got it! I will back up and say the margaritas are EXCELLENT! I would say, come and have the drinks and some chips and salsa and call it a night! Now for the real disappointment, which should be a high light, the actual food! I ordered fajitas (the true test of a really good Mexican restaurant) which according to the menu (that sounded lovely) had Mahi Mahi and crab meat. I told my mother that fajitas should always come sizzling at your table. Mine not only were not, but looked like they sat under the heat lamp for awhile. Also, I asked for corn tortillas, I got flour, and told our server of that at the same time of reminding her of the guac (I got neither, may I remind you, I was being nice as can be, I have dined with friends who would be calling for a manager by now). Not only was there no sizzle, but everything was swimming in grease, and the crab meat was charred black and the mahi was practically non existant! Mom's enchiladas were not much better, not as MEH as mine, but not very flavorful! Sigh.......just such a let down, both in cuisine and service. Thank goodness for the margarita buzz! My husband and I ate here on a Thursday night. The seating area is bright and cheerful with Mexican music that was fun to hear. We were seated immediately and served, very tasty, tortilla chips and salsa. Our waitress was very attentive, and efficient. Our food arrived before we ran out of tortilla chips. My husband ordered Mahi Mahi Tacos, which he said were good, but a bit bland, although, he really liked the rice. I ordered Chicken Fajitas, which were delicious. The serving size was generous, so I ended up taking half of the Fajitas home. A manager and possibly, the owner, checked on us during our meal, asking if the food tasted good, and if we needed anything else. Overall, it was very enjoyable. I went there for dinner tonight with my girlfriend and another couple and the service SUCKED. The waitress couldn't do the checks right, my friend had an empty drink for 25 minutes, and the food was so low portion that we stopped at another restaurant to fill be up. The salsa with chips should have given me my first clue....how can a place call themselves a Mexican place and have horrible salsa? Mi Pueblito it's on its worst.Casa Fuentes was only good at first. I ask my self why open a third location if you can't keep up with Guadalajara and Mi Pueblito. If I could give a zero star I would. Went there on a Monday night around 7. Only three other tables with customers. We got seated and asked for drinks and did get those quickly....then the service slowed down. They had two waitresses and neither seemed to wait on customers. They would disappear for five minutes or so each time. We asked for more drinks, and they would come back with none. Until the owner showed up with our food, did we finally get our drinks when we asked him where they were. My wife's cheese was cold and not melted on her dish, but the waitress never came around to check on us to have it heated up or to ask if we wanted more drinks. Four drinks & two entrees came up to $47. Pretty pricey for an average Mexican restaurant. While waiting on our bill, there was a family of 6 who waited in the lobby at least 10 minutes to be seated. Wow! What if this place was busy. We had gotten half way home, and i had forgotten my to go box, so we went back, and nothing had been cleaned off of our table yet. 15 minutes. To start I would like to say that this review is directed not only at Casa Fuentes Mexican restaurant but also at Restaurants.com and Verizon. I recently used mu Verizon points (270,000) to win an auction on Verizon for a $100 restaurant.com meal card. It arrived in 4 days and it was then that the fun began. I had to redeem the cards code first with Restaurant.com and you can only redeem it for discounts like $10 off a meal when you spend $20 or more. Needless to say I redeemed the card for $10 off at Casa Fuentes in Decatur, IL. We ate our meal, which consisted of Fajitas for two. Nothing special really but it was edible. We then presented the coupon via our cell phone as instructed by Restaurant.com to the waiter. He came back shortly and informed us that his manager would not accept it because they needed a paper copy. No further discussion was attempted and even after I informed the waiter that they had lost two customers because of this incident, they said "Ok".
