Canard Cafe in Jersey city is such a great place to study, write your assignments, work from a cafe. They have a variety of drinks and eatery. I ordered myself a turkey sandwich and an iced latte. It was pretty big so I ate half and I saved the other half of the sandwich for later. This coffee shop has a nice quiet ambience and it's beautiful inside. It is in a luxury apartment. The girl at the counter was friendly and courteous. I really like this cafe because right now I am a student and I thought it was a perfect place to get away from home and focus on my assignments at a cafe without home distractions. I would recommend this cafe to any student Or anyone that wants to bring their laptop to focus and do some research/work in a quiet ambience. 10/10 recommendation. read more

First time here, this building looks new, Jersey city is expanding. This cafe is spacious and within a luxury high rise. Can be difficult to find for first time patrons. It's inside the urban building. The decor reminds me of California cafes with the plants and mod retro decor. There's sandwiches and pastries available with an assortment of drink options. I chose the matcha oat milk latte with Belgium waffle. The waffle is over priced but opted for this because their French pastries aren't made in house and didn't look appetizing. Wi-Fi is available and there's restrooms next to mail room on the side of gazebo area. I dined here for a meeting under the aesthetically vivid indoor gazebo with comfortable lounge chairs. Pretty cafe in Newport area, unfortunately not great. I came in for a breakfast sandwich and ordered bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel was dry and not particularly flavorful. Coffee, excellent, I ordered a cotado, and I will admit, the proportions of coffee and the overall amount did not quite understand the assignment, it tasted great, so wil give them that. It's an excellent spot to work out of given the abundance of natural light and the overall aesthetic. The pastries, however, would be shameful to associate with their French origins. Canele? Really? I should have known from the price point for three that they couldn't have possible been legit. Whoever made them must have known that the general lack of familiarity with the actual pastry would allow them to pass this rubbery confection off as a canele.... After a not-so-good experience with coffee in the morning, we craved a better afternoon coffee. This time around, we sought for an afternoon coffee as a pick-me-up on a fairly cold day. Located in effectively the lobby of the Urby Apartment building, this is truly a perfect place for people to enjoy a nice coffee, a few pastries, and get some work done with ample sunlight. The seating ranges from anywhere to tables to lounge sofas to get whatever ambience you desire. More importantly, you're here for the food and coffee. The cappuccino was impeccable. Served delicately and had the kick you need to jumpstart your day. To be honest, I actually had the cold brew and I did appreciate it. I got it without adding extra cream (which I usually do), but it did do the job for me. Sometimes you gotta enjoy the cold brew in its purest form and that's what I tried to do. The pastries are plentiful, though I'll say the lemon loaf did it for us. Light, but quite tasty. Anyhow, clearly this is a fancy coffee shop of sorts. At least it is close by to the Exchange Place and steps from the waterfront where you can also take your delights and sit back and stare at the NYC skyline. I was searching for a good spot to do some remote work and stumbled upon this café--it was perfect! It's a spacious café with beautiful decor, offering a variety of food, pastries, and drinks. I went on a Saturday morning, and while there were a decent number of people, it never felt crowded due to the size of the space. I ordered an oat milk matcha, which was really good, and a spinach and goat cheese quiche, which was delicious and served warm on a plate for dining in. Located on the first floor of Jersey City Urby, it's in a prime location near the waterfront. After wrapping up my work, I went for a run along the water, and the PATH station is only about an 8-minute walk, making it easy to reach from the city or get around Jersey City. Location: Located about 5 minutes from the Exchange Place PATH station, Canard Cafe Bar is located in a very convenient location with easy access to New York City and other places that can be reached by PATH like Hoboken. Food/Coffee: I usually order iced coffee at this location and have never been disappointed. There also is a very good selection of pastries if you want something light. Service: The service is good, and I never have to wait too long for my cup of Joe. Price: The price is nothing out of the ordinary. Only what was left in the case was available so I ordered a ham cheese croissant and tried the cocopassionfruit macaroon. Didn't like the macaroon flavor at all so that went to the trash. It also was moist from the chilled case I guess and had a store bought boxy taste. Don't recommend. The tables were fully sticky (I sat in two places during my 2hr stay). No one was cleaning/sanitizing the seating areas. The cashier was on her phone and I'm not sure she was alone or allowed to leave to clean but having experience in this work, it's too easy to run it all at this size and during downtime moments as it was from 4-6. Canard is that young, hip guy in Williamsburg with plants in his apartment everywhere. He takes his $5 lattes with oat milk and avocado toast. This is his Sunday place to sit down and read a book, but will occasionally bring a date as the selection of pastries is plentiful. The decor inside is stunning and reminds me of a greenhouse which is Urby's signature style. The seating area is large with outlets making it a great place to work from. There is a lot of traffic after 11am and by noon, almost all the seats were taken (this was on Saturday during opening week). Their full menu is available online via the LinkTree in their Instagram page @canardcafebar so you can know what you're getting into beforehand. They have Paris Brest which is my favorite pastry and hard to find outside of France. I see myself stopping by regularly. The ambiance is beautiful and I want to try all the desserts. read more

So happy this cafe has new management. Can't remember the name before Canard, but thank God they are here now. Bryce who helped me was so nice and recommended the caramel macchiato. The pastries all look delicious and I enjoyed the macaroon and chocolate croissant. I love this place for reading, studying, and even working. It usually is packed, but there are always free seats. The latte and the iced americano were both very good. We would order them again. Not acidic, very smooth. Great flavor. They forgot the chocolate chip cookie! :( The almond croissant was disappointing. Had sliced almonds on top with a light glaze. It oddly had chocolate inside of it, like a chocolate croissant with almonds on top. Too expensive for what we got. Wouldn't get this again or recommend it. We've had better and for less cost. The chocolate eclair is also not worth the price tag. It's smaller than I thought. The chocolate inside was creamy. The chocolate on top looked nice. Flavor was okay. Wouldn't get it again. The lemon tart was the best of them all! It was flavorful, presentation is beautiful. The merengue on top was delicious with perfect texture and crisp. The crust was held together nicely. The lemon custard was the right texture and flavor. Would definitely get it again and other tarts! Definitely try the tarts! Not a lot of reviews for the place, but let's be honest- it's a local spot for workers who are on the move and probably don't have a ton of time to write about it. They're finishing up reports or submitting work proposals or whatnot. So this is where I'm gonna come in with my five star review. Place looks dope. Like super spaced out and got some plants hanging to make me feel like I'm in a greenhouse. Like oxygen is the second most popular thing on the menu- and all you've gotta do is walk in to get the proper serving. Serving staff is on point. Attentive, and quick to getting the items out to you on your way to wherever you need to go. I had a dirty chai latte and it was damned delicious. Woke me up and got me through a rough day. On another day, I got a bagel with bacon and egg and it was filling. Another item that got me through a rough day at the office. Just didn't grab a picture of it because I was on the move to work. I meant to write this review after the first visit just for the dirty chai- but after having the bagel sandwich, it solidified my resolve to get this written and give this spot its much needed praise. The space is huge, with lots of seating, they have free wifi, and some of the seating areas have outlets. This cafe is super cute! It wasn't very easy for me to get to, but I think it is in a convenient location for people with easy access to the PATH. There is plenty of room to spread out and get work done. Service was polite. The coffee is good and affordable - I paid about $5 for a small Nutella latte, which feels appropriate for Jersey City. I also ordered a crepe, which was tasty but certainly not any better than you would expect. I would probably get a sandwich next time; they looked delicious coming out of the kitchen. The only gripe I have with this place is that it is (sort of) an advertisement for the apartments above it. The company Urby owns the building and they've made it a gentrified hotspot - everything looks nice, but when you take a closer look everything (decoration, furniture, artwork) could have easily come from Target. It sort-of looks like the set of an unrealistically rich Netflix show. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I do prefer to support small businesses, especially when visiting coffee shops. This space is gorgeous! Lots of live plants, the light fixtures and the desk lamps are a clutch, and so many different spaces to get some work done or chat with friends. It's normally quite full whenever I come, lots of students and remote workers during M-F. The menu is quite extensive, and the foods and drinks are pretty solid. I enjoyed their crepes and paninis quite a bit and always found them pretty filling, and the price to be pretty decent, especially for using their space. I get the turkey and gruyere crepe, though the cheese can be a tad salty. read more

Urby lobby is a great place to sit and work. I'm sad that 9 Bar has moved because this new cafe, albeit cute and having a lot of pastry selections, can't do coffee drink at all. I used to work in same space everyday before 9 Bar moved and was looking forward to my cappuccino every afternoon. But since this place has opened I rarely work downstairs. Their croissants are good and I haven't tried the dessert, but their coffee, besides simple drip coffee, is very wrong. Even ordering black coffee to go and add your own milk tastes better than their drinks. They really need to improve the craft of making coffee. read more

I must admit I'm addicted to trying the cafes in Jersey City! This place is surprisingly in the front lobby of a posh apartment. The decor is extremely artsy and appreciative and there are plenty of tables and chairs all around. It's usually packed but people keep to themselves so it's still a quiet-er place to work, study, read. I have enjoyed their panini's, crepes, even just a plain bagel and butter has really hit the spot. I love their ice tea's and their sizing for it is perfect, a lot of places seem to not give out super large cups for their larges but here it's the perfect amount during the hot days this summer. Their desserts are nice as well but I wonder how many of them are made in-house, definitely will be a future question to ask! I'm unfamiliar with the staff but I have never been greeted with anything other than smiles and patience. read more
