So in the past I have had a minor hate on for some Canadian Tire locations, usually it's because of the lack of service, like to the point that you want to cry when you can't find an employee. However, at this location - the biggest and brightest I've ever seen, does not seem to have that complaint. I came in to buy some flowers in the Garden department, and I was blown away by the huge assortment; especially of pre-made baskets. There were lots of staff members around, they were quite helpful in pulling down baskets that were hanging from the roof, answering questions, etc. And after I had spent a wack load of cash on nothing but flowers (that will most likely die in the next two months), a very nice employee even helped me out to my car and place them in my trunk with me. He even disposed of a giant bag of garbage that had been traveling around with me - like a little lost garbage puppy. Thanks to Canadian Tire I actually look like I can garden... instead of somebody who buys green nail polish suited for 16 year olds and pretends to have a green thumb. read more

At the service counter yesterday asked what an oil change would cost on my wife's car. They asked if I wanted synthetic or conventional oil. I asked for conventional. They quoted me $75 - $80 depending on how much was required. She took the car there today and theytold her we don't do conventional. Have to get synthetic and it would cost $126+. On their site however there is lots of conventional oil for sale. Such horrible service - no wonder they get mostly 2 stars. read more

We came to buy a few things including potting soil. There were various kinds and the one we wanted half of the bags were slit open and soil spilling out. We had to move bags around to find 4 that weren't cut wide open. We asked if they had large plastic bags in the garden centre and the staff said no and when we asked if they had them inside, the staff said no but then said you can check. We paid at the checkout and also asked for large bags and were told they wouldn't fit but we asked for them and reluctantly were provided. So we went to put the bags in the vehicle and they did fit and prevented soil from getting all over the place. Lazy and uninspired staff working here. I should have checked my receipt before leaving as the sale price wasn't what I was charged. Won't be shopping here again. read more

Most Slowest customer service ever no matter what department you ask for especially thee parts desk, was on hold for a solid 28mins waiting to see if they had a part I needed there. yet as I drove all the way there while still on hold waiting for someone to answer I manage to walk all the way to the parts desk where there had been 2 "kids" f***ing around and doing nothing, then i ask if they had the part I needed and while in the midst of the guy looking for my part i told him "he has a call waiting", the only phone line I seen blinking, he answered and then I said "bye" So all in all call and go to a different Canadian tire ( s**t staff this place ) read more

I have gone to this location for convenience, but no more! Anytime I have gone there for anything specific, ie plumbing, the staff person assigned to that area has NO clue, does not make any attempt to help you, and just walks away. Yesterday, I attempted to return a faulty bicycle that was purchased at the Millwoods location. First of all the lady in returns is extremely smug and demeaning. They told me that each Canadian Tire has different owners and policies.....really?! I told them that was unacceptable and that I will NOT return to this location. They did not care, even snickered about it. Unbelievable! I drove to the Millwoods location, and was treated like a normal consumer. Terrible customer service at the auto service desk yesterday morning asked for an alignment on my truck and buddy asked why . I told him why and. The only part that I didn't. Need to replace . So then he proceeded to tell me they won't look at it unless I change it . I told him that that part is still good . And he's likee nope . Not going to look at it . I just rebuilt the front end of my truck my self and have been fixing vehicles for 20 years I know when a part is bad . I will never take it here again . I made an appointment with the Canadian Tire at Windermere in Edmonton to get winter tires put on my car. It snowed the morning I had my appointment so, when I showed up, there were many cars in line waiting to get their tires changed. When I went to check in for my appointment I was told that my appointment was actually just a drop off time so that I could wait in line like everyone else (at this point, for a day to a day and a half). What's the point of making an appointment if it's just to wait in line with the people who did not make an appointment? This sets a new gold standard for one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. If this is just a staff member blowing me off because they're too busy, that person shouldn't have a job in customer service. If this is Canadian Tire policy, someone seriously needs to give their head a shake. Update to original post... Over the course of about an hour I chatted with several managers at the Canadian Tire store and they finally agreed to get my car in and put the tires on today. They explained that this 'appointment' is just a drop off time, not an actual appointment and is intended for them to be able to ensure that they have the desired tires in stock. That's fair enough but it raises two points. First is that this policy is entirely based on their needs and completely inconsiderate of their customers' needs. Second is that they are using the word appointment to mean something different than it means to anyone who goes in to make an appointment and, again, in a manner that is completely inconsiderate of their customers' needs. While I'm happy that my car is taken care of I can't help but be dissatisfied by this self-serving policy and re-definition of a commonly used term. That's it. My issue is taken care of but Canadian Tire has definitely made itself less attractive for future purchases. read more

Called in looking for a specific car battery , had them in stock. Guy I spoke to on the phone to order it was incredibly helpful , even offered to check the battery with a voltmeter before I came down to get it and did so; admitted it was VERY slightly undercharged but I was okay with that . The fact he cared enough to offer to check says it all. When I got to the parts desk the rudest employee I've ever encountered in the entire industry (Albert) took over the sale from there. Kid looked like he was just out of high school and acted it too , sighing heavily every 30 seconds and acting like I was the biggest inconvenience he'd had all day. I had to point out the battery that was reserved for me right behind him three times . Also interrupted me three times and ignored a question I asked twice about the warranty. Keep it up Albert , with an attitude like that you'll make an excellent fry cook at McDonald's. Would give the guy on the phone at first 5 stars but they need to fire this little brat. read more

Do not go there for any reason, any parts you buy and take home to replace on your vehicle, will be WRONG, so never go home feeling like your gonna fix your vehicle, cause your gonna have to leave your car in peices, cab back to that location. and argue with the INEXPERIENCED parts/auto service representatives, who will accuse you of not knowing the year of your own car that you had for 4 years. Only so it doesnt sound like they sold you the WRONG parts. Also after your exchange is all done, you go back to the auto service/parts desk, only to get the worst attitude from christian as if your looking or waiting for this child's hand out, if you can't find someone experienced, at least find someone respectful. I'm complaining because hes the one who told me to go complain about the parts department, "same person who took on the parts job and brought me the proper part after". The quality of Automotive service is really poor, yes one or maybe 2 mechanics are good in several locations but the rest are horrible and you need to spot this one or 2 -which is impossible if you dont know the place well for long or someone from inside know you and them hence he can spot them for you and not in all locations otherwise you shall end in big mess and not correct diagnostic and repair with maybe high bill just to gain money for them and for the mechanics whom working there because they are flat rate and the more they quote, the more labour they get. read more

Nice to have a Canadian Tire in southwest Edmonton. It's a smaller Canadian Tire, combined with a Mark's, but it still seems to carry most things. It's usually not too busy, which is nice. Also none of those annoying self checkout machines (yay real people!). Otherwise it's your normal Canadian Tire shopping experience. read more

Bought a recommended Car Battery and had it installed in April 2020, 9 months later it was dead. I took it to the dealer to get my car tested find out the issue and they said that Canadian Tire did not install the recommended type of battery and they couldn't run a parasitic scan on my car. I ended up having to buy a new battery from the dealer and Canadian tire would not give me reimbursement for installing a non recommended quality product. DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE the employees do not know the requirements for newer cars and it will cost you double in the long run. read more

Went to CT on Jan 20th/2016 to fix a puncture. After a 2-hr wait they told me that the tire can't be fixed and I need a new one. Oh, by the way, you have a 4-wheel drive so we have to put 4 new tires, and you need a wheel alignment and please take a replacement insurance - total of $2,300. I said no. Went to Sandy Lane and they fixed my tire for $50. And offered to wash my car. read more

I went down to this location looking for a Christmas tree, obviously I wasn't sure if Id get a decent one at this time of year. When I got there I was told by a young lady that they were out but she called a couple of branches and found one that had trees in stock, she went so far as to even write down the address for me. I brought my car in for an inspection. They failed the inspection and told me that I would have to spend around $3000 in repairs in order to have it passed. I decided to bring my vehicle elsewhere to get a second opinion. My vehicle ended up passing the inspection at the new place and I was told that the guys at Canadian Tire tried to gyp me. I got some mechanical work done on my truck. The next day after getting my truck back I start to hear rattle noises in the suspension. I look underneath and notice that the CV joint was obviously cut, my ABS line was pulled out and cracked. After taking it back and getting another opportunity to fix the situation, they tell me it's the struts and they would fix it. I decided to take it to another shop where they told me there is nothing wrong with the struts but the installation was incorrect. Now with proof of a real mechanic, old struts, and pictures they will not honour all of there mistakes. Horrible service and staff. Worse service ever! They damaged three out of four rims when installing winter tires. They carved circles into the rim. The service installer told me that it's curb damage? And I am going to get it for saying he damaged my rims. The Manager in service and the female Manager in the store are useless and should hold a job dealing with customers. Not that any canadian tire is much different but the service I've received on multiple occasions at the location is atrocious. The most recent is why I'm writing the review. I went in to grab some stackable storage containers. I found the bins but no lids were to be found. After searching possible locations I finally had to ask for help. Which is refrain from doing in any canadian tire. I brought the lady to the bins and explained I was looking for the red lids that come with them. We walked the store once again and then she said she'd have to go out back to look. So back she went... 20 to 25 minutes later I thought I saw the lady at the other end of the store. I walked down and sure enough there she was chatting to her friend at the counter. I asked her about the lids and she replied using a very snarky tone " oh yeah I couldn't find those." Horrible service I paid for a shed $850 while I was waiting for my dad's truck to come they sold it!!!!! (Again) went to the back door to pick it up and they said sorry somebody else came and got this even though I had Already paid for it! they didn't hold it while my dad drove from his acreage. This made no sense I paid for it!!! Why would they sell it!!!!!??? Peggi the manager was very rude!! When we got to the back door she just said not my problem that your parents drove into help you, it gone. She then told me to go to the return desk to fill out return form to get money back. They totally screwed up! Sold something that was already sold and did nothing to say sorry or make it right! They wasted our time, my dads gas bringing truck for no reason and were completely rude!! I am so undecided as to the star rating I should give this Canadian Tire. I am terribly unimpressed with the auto department, but I guess it could have been worse. Now that the snow in Edmonton is finally gone, we decided to purchase new wheels to put our all-season tires on. We ordered the wheels online and had them delivered to this store. According to the website and customer service, we were supposed to get a confirmation email when the wheels arrived in store. No email was ever sent, but we called the day before our appointment to make sure that the store actually had the wheels. The tire appointment was at 4 pm. When booking, we were told that it would be approximately an hour for the wheel install. When we dropped off the car, they said about an hour and a half. We walked Windermere, shopped and had a long dinner. We asked them to call us when the car was done, and by 7 pm, we still hadn't heard anything, so we walked back. Our car was still up and the wheels weren't on. When we asked what was wrong, one of the guys said that they needed different lug nuts and couldn't put them on without our authorization. First of all, we did authorize a different set of lug nuts and the guy just didn't type it on our file, and second, why didn't they call us? Their excuse is that they were too busy to call us to ask. Once we agreed a second time for the new lug nuts, it was another half an hour before the car was finished. We also found out when paying that they didn't do a full wheel and tire inspection because they knew we had been waiting for a long time. I sure hope nothing is wrong that would have been caught during said inspection. They also put the hubcabs on our backseat without a bag, getting mud on the sweater I had on the seat, as well as the interior fabric. It was after 8 pm when we got home - four hours for a pre-scheduled wheel install. We went back the next day to talk to the manager of the auto department, and he refunded the cost of the lug nuts when we asked. When we told him our concerns and how upset we were at being kept waiting because they didn't call us, he literally shrugged and said "well what do you want me to do?"; an apology would be nice. The customer service here is below par, and I don't think I would do any serious auto repairs with this department. read more

I had a very negative experience at the Windermere branch of Canadian Tire yesterday and I will never be back. Went to buy my daughter a skating helmet as she has outgrown hers. The store is so huge and there was literally not one staff member in sight. The shelves were poorly stocked and in disarray, so after about 20 minutes of unsuccessfully struggling to fit her myself, we wandered around the store, literally up and down the aisles trying to find one person who worked there. I finally found one woman, and she said "I'm off now but I'll try to find someone." Another minutes and a young guy finally comes up to us, but he has no training in the sports section and doesn't know the rules and regulations for helmets. So, off he goes to find someone else and we wait around again! Finally, another young guy comes over and after I explain to him how the coach told me a helmet should fit, he just stood there with the blankest of all blank looks on his face and said "I don't know, you'll have to check the shelf". At that point, I just walked out. Ridiculous. I'm getting very tired of our new culture of no customer service. Today, we went to United Cycle and Sport where the most helpful older gentleman helped her try on 8 different helmets and got us the perfect, and safe, fit. Only specialty stores from now on, where there is actually some pride in the products and services they offer. read more

Do not use the services of thier auto department. I took my 2007 Ford Escape in because it was making a very loud noise. They told me it was my brakes and $500 later they replaced them. I took my vehicle home only to notice that it was still making the noise. I took the vehicle in the next day to be re-inspected. Less than an hour after it had been in the shop they called and said it was my front diff. and it would be $2400 to replace it. The front diff. did not make sense for where the noise was coming from so we told them to leave it alone and we took it elsewhere. It ended up being my PTU (still a $2700 fix) but had I let Canadian Tire do the work I would be thousands in the hole only to still be driving a brokem vehicle. Horrible customer service and sloppy service. Save you money and go to a real mechanic. read more

I was here on Saturday picking up a bunch of supplies to paint my garage. Jayden in the paint department saw that I had a few cans of paint in my cart and offered to shake them up in the machine. While I was waiting - I had a good handful of questions for him regarding my task and he was very happy to answer them all and walked me around to each tool and accessory I needed - while providing recommendations. I found him to be very engaged in his job and felt that he was genuinely trying to help me because he provided his own input on which tools I should get and why. I found it pretty genuine as he wasn't always recommending the most expensive things, but reasoning why lower priced things might be a better fit for my task. I was at a competitor's store prior to this and the employees definitely did not have the same levels of engagement and customer focus as Jayden did. Essentially, they just agreed with everything I said and pointed me to general and disorganized aisle to find what I needed. Having Jayden help me out probably cut out 30-45 minutes of my time wandering around looking for things and researching. read more

Bought a BBQ recently and when we took it home to put it together the frame was badly dented... We went back to exchange it and because the BBQ stock was in the back room it took them 15 minutes to find the piece and bring it out to us... That piece was bent too, not as bad, but bent. We asked for a another piece, and unbent piece, and 20 minutes later he came back with one that was slightly bent and said that because of how it was packaged during shipping, this was the best it was going to be. Nothing was offered, no apology and no discount. We were frustrated with waiting there almost an hour so we took the best one there and left. read more

This branch is a lot better than the west side branch. My tire got fixed without me booking an appointment. The only thing i am not happy with is they don't call you back right away when they are done. I saw when my car was picked up from parking lot and when they put it back. So I know when exactly my car was ready. They said in an hour it's ready and yes it was ready but they never phoned. I had to wait 35-40 minutes and finally decided to just go check them without them phoning me. But that's fine, thanks for the tire repair done on time. Thank you for good customer service. read more
