The review is mainly for the park and its hiking trails. Getting to Campo was very enjoyable with breathtaking views of the grasslands, large mountains with above tree line areas, and good roads and signage. Campo had plenty of parking and offered food services - a bar with German beers, espresso, and snacks and a food truck serving cheeses and hams. A few vendors were also selling trinkets including one older man set up behind the chapel dedicated to Pope John Paul II, a patron of the local ski resorts, and near the infamous hotel where Mussolini was imprisoned in 1943, who was selling pro- Mussolini pictures in heart shaped frames. I did not see any shoppers or buyers but apparently there is tolerance of the ideology.
Multiple hiking trails were accessible from the parking area with trails heading in every direction. The one I took was a popular leading to the refugio that was visible from the parking area. The difficulty was beginner - intermediate. The refugio was another jumping off point for trails around the high alpine area. Food and drink could also be purchased there.
For access and great scenery, I recommend this location for tourists interested in hiking. read more
