We stumbled on this place for two nights after asking about camping options in Eichstatt. What a…read moremistake! The place was dirty, crowded, had one men's toilet, one women's toilet, and one cold shower for the entire site (that cost a euro to use!). It was full of rude kids running wild with the baby rabbits onsite (totally disregarding how our dog wanted to eat them while no parents said a thing). That can be par for the course for cheap campgrounds, but this place had by far the rudest campground hosts I've ever been around. We set up camp next to a nice table by the river and proceeded to make dinner there. The main dude came over to inform us there would be a fire there that night, even though there was no reason it couldn't have been somewhere else. He hovered over us while we ate, then after we were done immediately took over the table (which was right next to our tent) and proceeded to smoke, drink, catch fish (and gut the fish, leaving entrails and scales on the ground), and light a campfire there until late into the night. He bumped our campervan numerous times while stumbling around at night, even after I got out to tell him we were sleeping in there. Our next door neighbor at the campsite apologised for how badly we were being treated. When it came time to pay the bill, the hostess told us it would be €27. We gave her €30, and she just said danke, danke a few times and walked away even though we could see she had lots of change right with her. We were too shocked to argue and too excited to leave to chase the €3 "tip" she felt they deserved. These were by far the most horrible, lazy, hosts I met during two weeks of camping all over Germany. Stay away!!

This was our nicest stop along the Romantische Strasse. It's right next to the little town of…read moreDinkelsbühl which was well worth a visit. The bathrooms were very large and they were lots of them. In the evening we enjoyed a walk to the small lake, admiring on the way how creative German people can be when it comes to establishing their campsites. There are lots of facilities for children such as 2 separate play areas and a minigolf.
