The site has much to recommend it in that it is pristine clean, the pool/slides etc are just perfect and the restaurant is excellent as well too. Unfortunately the pitches are tiny and access to them with a large car is a work of art.
We were there for the last week of June and 1st week of July 2010 and had a really dreadful time because of the noise from groups of young French tent campers who were apparently letting off steam, or so we were told by the campsite management.
OK, dancing on car rooftops whilst roaring drunk is one thing, but when accompanied by raucous singing until 1 am it's another thing entirely. I virtually lost the will to live and felt the red mist closing in. Luckily for all concerned it didn't quite reach the stage where the shirt rips and I become terribly violent!
We complained to the management several times, as did others in mobile homes near to us but little to nothing was done to stop them. I wondered at the time what their reaction would have been if the troublemakers had been Brits?
It goes without saying that there will be some evening noise when so many people are living in close proximity and we accept that, but what we cannot accept is a dozen or so youngsters who get up just in time for lunch making life a misery for others from noon onwards, until 1 am and later.
Then there is the cost issue to take into consideration; Our holiday which cost in the region of 1K all in with extra ferry costs, insurances etc, was nigh on ruined by these morons who paid just a few EUR's per night to pitch their tiny little tents. That doesn't seem quite fair to me, so I sent a message detailing all the problems to Matthews Holidays with whom our holiday was booked, AND the management of Camping du Conguel but 6 months later neither have bothered to reply. Not good enough Matthews and not good enough by a mile Camping du Conguel.
This was a Lone Star Holiday and I personally would not go back there even if it was free. read more
