A nice room with an ocean view and close to the food! Clean room with comfortable bed, dresser lamps. The bare essentials, no complaints from me! No tv's, alarms or radios In The room. Which I loved. & a quiet location!! During busy season plan on sharing a room with a roommate. I lucked out and had a big room all to myself. Or you can camp on the grounds here. My friend said it was noisy and found it difficult to sleep even with ear plugs. ( noisy campers). Took a continuum workshop which is totally amazing. Highly recommend ! The food is vegetarian and completely fantastic! This is the place to be for a restorative vacation ! There is wifi available. So you can text check emails & FaceTime etc. however, you may need to be close to the food lodge to get it. You can also rent houses here in Cortez island, but I really liked staying here at hollyhock. I do plan to come back in the future.

If you know the area, then know that she (and I) live in Black Creek. She is a die hard Courtney person. But she trusts Thong's so much she goes to them in Campbell River. That's mean a lot, Haha. I took 2 bracelets there. One was Swavorski crystal that needed a new latch, and the other was a tanzanite bracelet that had broke, but I needed shortened anyways. I dropped them off on a Friday and picked them up the following Friday. They were done earlier than that, so they were pretty quick. It cost $70 plus tax, which is a good deal. The new clasp was real silver and the Tanzanite bracelet was gold, so like I said good price. They were very nice and the place is small but they have lots of jewelry to sell. Lots of chains, rings, necklaces, bracelets and broaches. I 100% recommend over any other big-box jewelry store. They are a Mom-n-Pops place, so stay local and support your community!!!!!

This is a rescue, rehabilitate and release centre - with their main goal to return the birds and any other creatures they rescue to the wild. There are some that they do not release due to the extent of their injuries. We booked the tour online the day before (this was October so I think we got lucky) and got to see the animals up close with a guide. You can visit the centre anytime during business hours but I highly recommend booking a tour if you can do you can get more behind the scenes time. The tours run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays I believe. The tours are free but they suggest $5 min donation per person. The tour was about 1 hr 15 min but we spent another 1/2 hr in the centre, lots of great information and interactive displays for kids. The volunteers are knowledgeable and kind. A great stop; awesome people doing awesome things for wildlife.
