As someone who loves camping I found it very welcoming to be able to lose myself in nature here. The trail ride itself was a lot of fun and very relaxing. The horses seem very healthy and, while they all have different personalities, they are very well behaved. The guide was friendly, helpful, and professional. The trail was breathtakingly beautiful, coming to a stunning mountaintop view. Overall it's as very nice place, very rustic and friendly, and the horses are happy and healthy. The camp is in a beautiful VT location. The kids stay in 3 wall cabins that open up to the forest. There are enriching activities, a lake, rope swings, chores, work projects, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing and other adventures during the overnight trips. No electronics are allowed. The staff are always friendly, accepting and open. There is a Foundation that allows families that might not be able to afford this experience for their children, to be able to send their kids there. This is so much different than the standard overnight summer camp and truly worth it.

The cabins were really nice and clean upon arrival. There were bathrooms and sinks in the cabins which was awesome. A small bathhouse was not far away with really nice showers. The only thing I could say was they were advertised as heated and defenitly were not! The kitchen staff was incredible in serving up three meals a day with snacks in between. They were amazing at catering to vegan and vegetarian's as well! The camp staff in general was awesome. We had several classes including mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and yoga. The staff helped set up materials and walked us through how to properly use them every step of the way. The staff even set up an area for Olympic games and transported water as well. This camp had such a great set up, so many things to do and see, and a staff that made a huge difference in making things run smoothly!

We spent nearly $4,000 resolving the infestation, including multiple treatments, replacing his mattress and box spring, and washing more than 20 loads of clothing, bedding, and stuffed animals. The expense, time, and stress were overwhelming. When I reported the situation, the camp's response was simply "sorry." Given the impact on our family, that response was deeply disappointing. I cannot recommend this camp until they implement measures to monitor for and address bedbugs. If your child attends, thoroughly inspect and clean all belongings before bringing them back into your home.

The counselors are exceptionally well-trained, receiving a full week of preparation focused on safety, team-building, and camper connection before the kids even arrive. From counselors to campers to parents, everyone is welcomed like family. The camp places a strong emphasis on inclusion and encourages kids to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and take pride in their accomplishments. We were initially nervous sending our daughter away for three weeks that first summer, but on her first phone call home, she BEGGED to stay the full six weeks. Camp has structure, but it's structure inside a framework that's different from home or school. At K&E, the kids have a safe space to grow in ways we didn't even realize were possible. Our daughter is creating lifelong friendships, learning the importance of teamwork, & having an absolute blast in the process--and for us, that's absolutely priceless.

They have various sleeping quarters and while I'm not sure what's the worst quarters they have I did get assigned one of the houses that had multiple rooms with private bathrooms in each. I've been to camp facilities in the past where you have to walk through the woods at 3am for a potty break at a designated outhouse. The fact that Spofford had private bathrooms in each room of the large house was a really nice treat. While it wasn't a 5 star hotel it was a pretty amazing compared to other camping facilities I've visited in the past. The sanctuary they have is absolutely beautiful. It's so nice inside it almost seemed like it was brand new or relatively new. The camp is situated right next to a lake for summer fun although it was cold during my visit so nobody ventured into the water. The camp offers several simple activities to keep yourself entertained. The cafeteria is really nice, large and food is fairly good. They had an unlimited supply of coffee on hand for us which was a neat treat. Overall it's really a nice camp for the value you get and what is provided. If you come expected a 5 start luxury facility then you will be sorely disappointed but if you've been to other camp facilities this place is pretty top notch.

The number and range of activities are amazing and there is great flexibility in allowing kids to try new things and adjust their schedules when they find what they love. As a result my son really stretched himself and had some amazing new experiences. The Camp's management of food allergies is unparalleled. My son felt safe and included the whole time and loved the food. The Director was so accessible and reassuring. All of my questions got answered and I felt totally comfortable while my son as there.
