Getting there feels like a mini adventure--you'll drive through a peaceful little town, maybe wave to a few cows, and then boom: there it is, standing tall like it's just waiting to be Instagrammed. You don't climb it (please don't climb it), but you do stand in front of it and try to make serious faces in photos next to something that looks like it belongs in a Looney Tunes desert scene. Is it just a rock? Technically yes. Is it also a hilarious and majestic reminder that nature sometimes gets weird? Absolutely. Bermuda on the back. Bent grass greens. Fees are more than reasonable. The most you can pay is $35/18 holes with cart. Special rate $24 Mon-Thurs Noon till 4PM(18 w/cart). Can replay and pay cart fees only at all times. This course gets better each year as the maintenance continues to make improvements. One air conditioned restroom on each nine. They don't gouge you for beer and brats and hot dogs are available. Check it out. You won't regret it.

Near the entrance on the south side of the park is a huge playground with multiple pieces for kids to play on. Visitors can simply park along the road that loops through the park so they can park near the amenity that interests them. There are horse shoes pits, pickle ball courts, a paved walking trail, a shelter and a pavilion (with its own playground), an amphitheater, and on the northwest side, Rainbow Beach swim/splash park with its own parking! And just in case that sounds crowded, there is a large green area with mature trees in the middle of the park that allows people to mill about or for kids to run and play their own games. The park is clean and well kept too! It might be nice to have some additional benches and picnic tables for those not needing to rent an entire shelter, but other than that, the park seems to have the makings of a fun day. Review #2980

We just joined after…read moremoving to the area and within a month, Jade (owner) and her coaches had my daughter doing things that other gyms couldn't do after months of training!! They just moved to this new location which is just awesome! The gym is clean, the parent area for viewing is located above the floor on the 2nd level so it's easy to watch your girls/guys without interfering with coaching or being a distraction! What I love about this place more than anything are the owner and coaches! Jade knows what she's doing and she's excellent at it. Most of tumbling is self-confidence and that's the first thing that Jade instills into these kids and what comes out is a spirit and confidence that they didn't think they had! She's got a great background in the sport which you can view on her website bio! Last year was Full Out's first year of competition and they have a long list of awards/wins that prove this gym and their coaches are top notch!! Tough!...but the right kind of tough! If you're looking for a place to get serious about cheer I would recommend coming here first to check out Jade's style of coaching and their techniques for training. It seems like there is a lot of construction around the area where 3rd Avenue crosses the Patoka…read moreRiver. The Riverwalk runs along the Patoka for quite a distance. I thought I would be able to find parking at the address assigned on Yelp, but that parking has signs posted that state the parking is for specific businesses only. Fortunately, I found a nice parking lot on the south side of the Patoka and one block west of 3rd Avenue. (Take Brucke Strasse west to Cemetery Drive and there will be shaded parking on both sides of the street.) This lot is really convenient for anyone who wants to check out the Jasper City Mill (when it is open) or the City's first handicap accessible playground (at least that is what the tombstone style marker claims.) Because of time constraints, I didn't try hiking the entire 2+ mile length, but was able to check out the downtown area. Next to the Mill, a bridge spans the Patoka with great views of the small dam/waterfall next to 3rd Avenue. It also offers views of the working side of the Mill. The trail goes east underneath 3rd Avenue to avoid the traffic and soon leads to an area called the Dave Buehler Plaza. Back near where I parked, the playground has equipment targeted towards smaller kids. There is also a fitness station with several pieces of workout equipment available. Note that during my visit, some construction cones were in the area, so be advised that at times, passage may be limited until the work is completed. Review #3190
