I wanted to update my stars to reflect the new outdoor playgrounds that have been added at the FAC…read more Huge progress over the older equipment that was there when we first moved to this town. My children are now 8 and 10 and I still feel they can enjoy the playground. It offers something for children of all sizes. The inside facilities could still use some updates. The workout area is still not something I feel drawn to use as it is squeezed into an area that all people pass through on their way to class, the pool, or any other parts of the facility. The area is dark and glum and, since I have enough trouble finding self-motivation to work out, this is something I'd like to see changed. I'm not sure the facility has a better space for it, but daylight and more openness would go a long way in improving this experience. Kudos to the facility for offering a variety of classes ranging from fitness (including yoga, swimming, Zumba and more) to after-school care and even guitar lessons. It is a well-rounded facility that all ages can benefit from. I have seen seniors doing aqua aerobics and there is a small daycare room for the younger children. This could be improved with increased toys and activities, but it is offered and can help a mom get a workout in when she otherwise might not.

Can I give this place 25 stars? Drop your kid off for two weeks and not worry about them?…read moreAbsolutely! I've done it for the last two years. As a matter of fact my kid has spent five weeks here and had the most fun of his summer vacations at Camp Piomingo. Even when it's raining the kids are kept busy with activities. All ages are felt welcome and included. Absolutely the best experience you can give your children.

I recently attended camp Piomingo and I can most definitely say that I was under whelmed. Between…read morethe horrible food and the boring overprotective atmosphere, my friends and I can say that we were not impressed. While I attended Piomingo I did not eat anything for 2 days and I am the farthest thing from anorexic. The food is so unbearable that when I walked into the mess hall I felt a part of me just die. Everything comes out of a bag and the waffle sticks were so hard that you had to drench it in syrup just to be able to bite into it. Oh yeah, I forgot about the camp tradition hobo stew. One of my favorite camp memories was the taste of pre-overcooked processed hamburger patties mixed with processed cheddar cheese and most likely expired veggies wrapped in tinfoil and then warmed over an open fire. I was debating eating the wild berries I found in the woods so I could get sick go home and enjoy something edible. Also, the water tastes like it came straight out of a dirty shower. I couldn't find a single glass that didn't have smears, crumbs, or dirt in it. I left camp early because after the first day we had sung so many camp cheers that I had lost my voice and I don't even sing loud. The first 24 hours were so boring I wanted to get lost in the woods just so I wouldn't have to hear all the screeching cheers. There were kids that were banging on the lunch tables so hard (while the food was still on the table) and they knocked the pitcher of water off. Then they refilled it and put it back on the table and then knocked it off a second time. You would think they learned their lesson. When I asked if I could leave for obvious reasons they wanted me to wait two more days because they wanted me to give camp a fair chance. During the two days, I endured so many camp cheers I thought I was gonna die. By the time it was Wednesday afternoon I had just about had it. I asked to call my mom and they refused to let me use the phone which I thought was strange. I swear all the counselors are so OCD that if something doesn't go as planned they flip. The entire group of 36 kids were forced to sit while people went one by one on a high ropes course. Most of which would be half way up the ladder and want to go back down. I sat there for 3 hours before I got to go. While I was waiting for my turn I had the pleasure of listening to everyone sing their merry camp cheers. One kid yelled at me and I quote,"I hate you I'm gonna kill you, just kidding bro your my friend." He was breathing heavy and he did this like 15 times during my stay at the infamous Piomingo. I talked to my counselor and he told me that we can't participate in any ("fun") activities instead we went to do arts and crafts. During one of the ceremonies a kid randomly stands up and proceeded to yell HYPE at the top of his lungs like 4 times and sits down. By the way, this kid was 14. So before you send your 14+ year old child to Piomingo I would recommend finding other options because I can guarantee from personal experiences that it won't be a good fit.
