We've taken them to daycares with cameras, and can see that the staff doesn't interact much with the dogs. Here I know they do. My dogs are much smaller than the majority of the dogs who attend Puppy Playground, but I believe the staff looks out for them when they play with the big kids. Pete is a year old now and confident around dogs of all sizes! His good socialization is due in part to Indy Hound's care. The dogs are able to play with each other and the staff from 7a-7p before being kenneled for the night. Pete has always come home happy (and TIRED which says a lot because Bostons have lots of energy). The staff are amazing, know us and Pete well, and he gets excited to go in when we get there. The peace of mind that he's well taken care of while we are away is priceless, but Indy Hound's prices are also affordable, and they have add on services like baths and nail trims, which is very convenient. But with their special care, she came home looking better than when we left. The staff is professional and attentive. We received a tour of where she would stay and we learned about daily outdoor exercise. They gave us a phone number to check on her. During our ten day trip, we did call to check on her and they called us twice. Their attention to detail is outstanding. Our little pup was treated to special time out with the staff which was comforting for her since she is blind. She also got a lot of fresh air when they took the dogs out to their dog park. The dog did tear a nail during her stay and they wrapped her injury and gave us a call right away. We paid extra for the special care but it was worth it. I highly recommend the kennel for your pampered pooches.

I left one day's food for each dog. It was returned to me at pick up. None of the dogs ate anywhere near an appropriate amount. Nothing was said about this. I weigh their food so I can tell to the ounce what they consumed. The medicine provided was gone so I will presume it was administered. Not eating much one day is not terrible but I should have been told. My low score is due to the billing pratices. I found three different brochures in their lobby. Only one brochure includes printed prices for services. It states $47.50 per night exactly the same wording as their website. I never asked about the cost when I booked the 3 runs, I needed the service and they have a very attractive facility. The charge at register was $120 more than I expected. The reason is they have an unposted policy of charging $40 per dog if you pickup after 12:30 pm. I had asked when I made the appointment when was drop off time and pick up time, I asked again the day before drop-off, and I called to clarify that they were well on Wed and stated I would be picking up around 2 pm Thurs. Never once in 3 person to person interactions, was I told of this extra fee only that they opened at 8 am, I could come any time before 5:30 pm and they needed to be picked up by 5:30 pm. Caleb (a manager?) told me it was a known policy but agreed to waive the fee this time. He mentioned recent changes over the last few months, that they charge per day not per night, if I had them groomed there is no afternoon pickup charge, that it was a clearly stated pricing, but he had nothing anywhere in the lobby or at the checkout counter to show me that. When I returned home, I read the reviews here and other sites. Mentions of this unusual pricing policy goes back much further than a few months. I will say the care for my dogs seemed ok. If I must use them in the future, I will request a written estimate of all charges and potential penalties before my trip to avoid these surprises.

She has regular bath/grooming sessions there as well. As such, we have had the opportunity to get to know most of the Uptown Team throughout the years, from the day care staff to management to trainers, and they have been nothing but caring, supportive, knowledgable and accommodating. She is always clearly happy and excited to see them, no matter which staff member it is, when we drop her off. When our dog was younger we tried out a few other day care businesses to see what was out there, and Uptown Pup was the only place where we felt our dog was cared for and received an individual focus; each Uptown staffer truly cares about the dogs' well-being and wants each one to flourish. Our dog has anxiety issues, particularly with loud noises such as thunderstorms and fireworks, and Uptown has consistently gone above and beyond to help her with this, including taking her aside from her group to relax and hang out during day care. During her boarding stays the staff has also paid extra attention to make sure she was comfortable. She also has a food allergy and a sensitive stomach, and the staff always remains cognizant of this and makes sure she avoids certain types of treats/foods when she's there. These are just a few examples of the care that Uptown takes for clients. For anyone deciding whether to entrust Uptown Pup with their day care, boarding, training or grooming needs, this probably sums it up best: we wouldn't just recommend Uptown Pup - we wouldn't take our dog anywhere else BUT Uptown Pup.

I took my pup in for his first day. Upon entering and saying it was his first day they didn't really ask any questions just had me fill out a form (that I had already filled out online) and asked what time I would pick him up. The other daycare we've tried did an evaluation day and gave some more strict guidelines (drop off at 9 to ensure full staff is there, only took one new puppy a day to encourage socialization, started as 4hrs but would extend to full day depending on how they got along...) I had previously spoken to someone very kind and personable on the phone. This person was obviously not working the front desk when I came in. I dropped him off around 8am and around 11:15am got a call that he wasn't "interested in group play and kept showing stress signs". I found this extremely odd because my puppy is always a big fan of playing. With dogs of ALL sizes. He has gone to another doggy daycare and at the end of a full day he comes out so excited and then sleeps for hours because of how much he plays. I take him to a small group puppy training and he plays with all the other puppies the whole time. When I picked him up they spoke about how he just wanted to play with the trainer and cried when he left the area. I'm not dog training expert but I know that there are ways to help prevent this and manage it rather than just dismissing a 6 month old puppy that is still learning.I then believe instead of leaving him in with the other puppies to continue working on the socialization they just put him in a crate until I was able to pick him up. The vibe within the front desk area when I picked him up just didn't sit right with me. I look forward to taking him back to a daycare that I know he enjoys. We're very picky about who cares for our baby so during lunch today I stopped by to check this place out. My first impression is extremely positive. The play areas are spotless. The dogs don't have to run around on concrete - the floor has a nice rubber mat type of covering. There are plenty of crates so that when a visitor or new dog arrives, everyone can be safely put away. The dogs are separated into groups, by size and the rooms are large enough to accommodate the dogs. The owner, Ray, was kind enough to take some time to explain to me what they do and how they care for the dogs. This is not just a place to drop off the dog and let them run wild while you work, they actually take the time to work with and train the dogs! They limit daycare to about 25 dogs or so in order to maintain a clean space and give dogs personalized treatment. I realize pricing is a huge concern for many - it is for me. But when I asked them about their daily rate and how its nearly double some places you can find, Ray basically summed it up in saying that our pets will be treated well and not simply left to do whatever they please for the course of a day. I feel like I can really trust that Arnie will be in good hands and he'll receive wonderful socialization and training from the employees. My dogs come home tired, happy and a little stinky from playing all day with other dogs.

Toodles just got home and she is the adorablest she has ever been Also, their location is so convenient right in the heart of broad ripple, there is easy parking for drop off and pickup right in front of the building, they have lenient drop off time windows and are super fairly priced. Also, tiny dog is usually angry at us after a trip to the groomer and hides in her room for the rest of the day. However, after her trip to the village dog, she's napping peacefully on the couch.

The one woman who grooms my dog whenever I bring the dog there (about every 6 weeks), has been super helpful and treats my dogs so well. My dog comes home happy, and ready to begin the dirtying process again so I can return her to this groomer. Well worth it for their care, timeliness, and grooming skills.
