It's so wonderful to have such a lovely shop in Cumbernauld as the other shops are very cheap and nasty in general. At the back of the gift shop is a coffee shop / ice cream parlour and this is such a perfect partner for all the lovely gifts and cards. The coffee is real quality and everything is very reasonably priced. The ice cream is yummy too and the staff are always so charming and helpful, especially the tall, dark haired handsome fellow! Marshmallow is simply wonderful.

You can either turn up and flick through the catalogues (they have quite a few different ones), download the catalogues on your mobile device or do what I do and browse/order on line after reading the reviews. If placing an online order you quickly get a text to advise the staff in store have your order ready and it's a quick drive round and there you are. The staff are great and often help customers whether they are trade or DIY with whatever queries they have and are happy to compare items or I've seen some customers bring things in to make sure they are buying the right items/parts for the job. There are a few items out on display in the store, usually plumbing, safety clothing and general decorating items that you often forget about or are handy to have for "spares" for those emergency jobs that happen when you don't expect (and every DIY store is shut).

So for years Dwell have sent me their dreamy catalogue and for years I have happily sat ripping out items adding them to my home makeover mood board (it's a rather large board, their furniture is just gorgeous!). Then, when I decided that after 12 years I needed to grow up and have a table and chairs like a proper adult this was my obvious starting place. Sadly the fab table I wanted was too big for my space, sob, so I reluctantly chose one from elsewhere but I did settle on some gorgeous walnut and white padded dining chairs. The great thing about this shop is that they carry a large stock selection, much more than the Princes Square store, so I was able to go in and sit on said chairs to try them out for comfort. While doing so the staff were only too happy to assist, asking if I wanted the chair moved to a table so I could see what that would be like too. Decision made, these were definitely the chairs I wanted. Delivery to home incurred a hefty charge (the usual...) so I ordered for free store delivery instead as I live just a couple of miles away. The store phoned when they arrived in and even took them out to the car for me, such brilliant service! I may have also purchased an awesome (but completely unnecessary!) floor lamp in their sale on one of my visits and again, I didn't have to lift a finger as it was taken to my car too. All in, a great store located just off London Road with plenty parking, vast selection of furniture and home accessories, and great, friendly service. Not the cheapest of furniture but they tend to have 15 or 20% off full price items fairly regularly so keep an eye out for that :-D

I like the fact that the store is clearly laid out and they always have special offers on plants within the garden section. Yes, perhaps it is fair to say that if you have a specific plant in mind to buy, then a specialist garden centre will be what you're after, but if all you're looking for is for 10 plants to fill your hanging baskets then B&Q will have something cheerful and at a reasonable price to meet your needs. I've always found the staff within this particular store to be polite, helpful and courteous.

Sure, this place is a little pricey, so I wouldn't pop in for every day stationary or office stuff, but if you're looking for something in particular, it would be a good place to pop your head in. I went in seeking sealing wax... because yes, I happen to find wax sealed cards delightful and was happy to see they had a few options. Again, tipping towards the higher price side of things, but they had real wax sticks and not the plasticky "hot glue gun" wax seal knock offs. Kudos. They also seem to have a variety of prints and canvases downstairs, but I must admit, i've never ventured down. I usually run in here in the midst of some crafting emergency, so there isn't much time to snoop. Service has always been friendly and helpful, if a bit quiet.

This one is just round the corner from my flat, so I went in to see what's what. Compared to some of the places I've been in the city, this is not terribly well organised. There doesn't seem to be any order to how stock is up on the shelves, and going in for the first time it was hard to get my bearings. The stock itself is a bit random as well. I was almost a little confused as to whether it was a newsagents or not, despite claiming to be from the outside. All told, there are newsagents that are nearby that I find easier to negotiate. I expect that this place gets a lot of competition from Margiotta, which is just over the road (and incidentally a lot better in my opinion).

It doesn't matter whether you are in buying thousands of pounds on a camera/equipment or just need advice about what is the best size photo print to go for. They don't talk down to you and there advice is easy to understand. I go here for all my photo prints, whether actually putting in an order instore or using there online service and collecting my prints instore, the service is always fantastic.
