It would not be my first choice of church if I were choosing only for myself. However, as the mother of a teenage daughter who has had some struggles and is interested in a lively, vibrant youth community? I couldn't ask for more. There is a huge youth community in this church, and there are young leaders who make them all feel welcome and as if they are a part of something powerful-- which the faithful would agree they are. Youth get opportunities to eat dinners together at youth group every Wednesday night, participate in services that are quite lively and interactive on Sunday mornings, and take part in many different community events that exist to improve the church itself or the community surrounding it. It took very little time for my daughter to feel at home here, which made it an "easy sell" for me. As a community member and educator, I see the difference attending Life Church has made in the lives of other local teens and, again, I couldn't have more positive things to say: there are young people who have totally turned things around for themselves-- but, even more importantly, there are teens who have had challenges figuring out where they "fit" who now have a place where they feel welcome and confident to be themselves. Of course, the adults are also caring and active members of the community. However, my greatest kudos to Life Church is for the difference they're making in the lives of children, youth, teens, and young adults in this little town.

Any Christian from another sect would benefit from attending at least one Sunday Liturgy in their lifetime. It is a time capsule of the original Christian Byzantine worship and church iconography. In short, it's Christianity that is unchanged since the apostles. We are planning on attending again and are going to visit another Orthodox church this week in Whatcom County that is much closer to our home in Lynden.

Parking was easy, that was a blessing. We entered the courtyard and found that there were several tents set up which included. a dinner tent, a gyro tent, a pastry tent, coffee tent, and bookstore tent, loukumades tent, along with one additional tenant for music which by the way way too loud! (Couldn't even carry on a conversation with my husband) We ordered pork gyro, beef gyro and a pork souvlaki. The dinner menu while it appeared to be filling didn't look appealing. There were not enough food choices the food we had was a bit lackluster. The tsatziki was really runny and soaked into the pita bread. There were onions, no cucumbers and literally a ton of dill. Tsatziki should be rich and creamy with bits of cucumber, garlic, and a dash of dill. I will say the parishioners who made the pastries did redeem themselves with their cookies, baklava and various other items. This is why I gave the festival 3 stars. I traveled from North Seattle and the pastries alone were worth the trip. I find it so interesting whenever the Greek Churches in Washington have a Greek festival the number one thing they serve is gyros. Since it's only been a few months since I've been to Greece I'm pretty familiar with what the cafes and food establishments are serving. While gyros are sold, as a street food, it is not as common as you think. There are things you can get which are so much better. Why can't the groups in the Pacific Northwest think out-of-the-box. How about serving grilled octopus, keftetes, stuffed tomatoes and creamy rich tsatziki. People would then get a true insight of what Greek food is really like! I have grown to love Greek food and get very disappointed when done badly. I experienced my first Greek Festival in Portland at Holy Trinity. I would recommend St. Sophia reach out to Holy Trinity Greek Festival Organizers for some advice on offerings and recipes. I would love to go back next year if the food could be revamped. Wishing you success!!!
