Not a fan of the pastor, his style or teachings. Most of his staff have left and his own behavior is unworthy.

I went to this church for 3 years. Originally, I was so excited to join Grace Immanuel Bible Church…read more(GIBC). The church emphasized expository preaching, repentance, and had active discipleship groups. Their sincerity of faith made me feel like they were a light. I left because their un-Christlike behavior was hurting my relationship with God. Judgmental attitude/lack of love: The church members and leadership made snide comments about other churches and denominations. They assumed that their views were always the correct ones. If you disagreed with the interpretation of a passage, the church members treated you as an inferior Christian, seen as either ignorant or deceived. They also showed a lack of compassion and understanding for unbelievers. If the unbeliever didn't respond in the way that they wanted, the church members disowned them or gossiped about the unbeliever. Use of shame/legalism: GIBC leadership overemphasized true versus false repentance. In their eyes, if you didn't sin less/act more holy, you weren't truly repenting. Sort of like, "You don't really feel guilty about your sin because you keep doing it." The services and bible studies focused on living godly, following God's commandments and avoiding sins. However, they didn't focus on the beauty of God's character and how He has been good to humans throughout the ages. The fullness of God's compassion was overshadowed by talks about our need to repent. God's loving character should be a motivator for repentance, not only our obligation to the King of the universe or God's sovereignty and holiness. I cannot articulate how much sorrow the church members and leadership at GIBC have brought. My opinion is that you should run from this church. There are other churches in the area that study the bible verses in context, act in a loving manner, and are less legalistic.

This is a conservative church based on solid Biblical principles. They support some missionaries which is important to us. The offer a lot of programs for all interests.
