    Information

Who is Chuck Smith? was an American pastor who founded the Calvary Chapel movement. What makes Calvary Chapel Distinctive? Some churches believe in the gifts and ministry of the Holy Spirit, but don't have a strong emphasis on Biblical teaching. Others place strong emphasis on teaching the Word of God, but don't believe the gifts of the Spirit are available and valid today. In Calvary Chapel we value the teaching of the Word, and possess an open heart to the work of the Holy Spirit. This balance makes Calvary Chapel a distinct and uniquely blessed movement. Pastor Mark is awesome, he offends people that don't want to hear the truth and he solidifies the truth.

We just moved here and are searching for a home church. It's just me and my daughter, as I'm a…read moresingle mom. The website said they start at 11, so we showed up at 10:45, come to find out they're doing a special series for the month and don't start until 11:30. Had to drive around the parking lot a couple times before we could get a spot. Walking in, the greeters at the door didn't even say anything to welcome us in. It seemed disorganized. Everyone walking everywhere, looked like a bunch of bees flying around. This is a LARGE church by the way with police helping with traffic. We walked over to kids check in (which took us a while to find. I thought I was standing in line for it bc I followed the signs, but turns out it was just a guy and his daughter waiting for someone). The kids leaders were extremely welcoming and kind to my daughter. My daughter even made a friend. Austin checked us in and he was super friendly and helpful. After I dropped my daughter off, I went to wait for them to let us into the auditorium. Standing there by myself, not one person came up to me. They were all saying hey and chatting with people they knew, all regulars at the church. I was extremely uncomfortable. I did see the worship leader greet the people next to me, so I give them props for that. It was nice to see him trying to get to know people. They finally let us into the auditorium. The music was SO loud. The bass especially was irritatingly loud (I come from loud, band like churches, and this was bad). Still no one greeted me as I was sitting there for 15 mins waiting for church to start. When the band started playing, I could tell it wasn't good. The bass and drums were so loud, i couldn't hear the singer hardly. It was really hard to drop everything and focus on God because it was so loud. I did like how everyone was high energy. That's what I'm looking for in a church, is the excitement of praising the Lord. Apparently everyone had a coke and popcorn to which I had no idea I could get, since no one told me. So everyone around me was eating their popcorn and drinking their coke. I wish I could have gotten in on that. For this series, they watched clips of a movie and talked about Bible verses that relate to that scene. It was okay. The pastor was on screen the whole time, never in person (all pre-recorded). I wasn't into that. Someone wouldn't be able to write notes in paper bc it was dark the whole time with the lights out for the movie. It felt very mainstream being there, not a lot of people focusing on God, I feel like they're all there for their friends or to watch a movie. I also felt like I dressed up in heels and a dress to go to the movies. You could see the disorganization probably with the issues I encountered in my one first visit. We will keep searching.

My husband found this church for us coming up on 2 years ago and we absolutely love it. As others…read morehave commented it's truly "come as you are." I've personally gone in dresses with my hair done nice as well as shorts, flip flops, and a messy bun. I was just as welcome either way. This church holds amazing events for the community around holidays such as Easter and Christmas. My favorite is the snow machine at Christmas. Nothing like a little snow in Florida for Jesus' birthday! There's always free food, games for the kids...there was even an electronic shark to ride one time (think bull riding). It's always fun & a blessing to many when these folks have a get together. Within the last few weeks they've added a Saturday night service! Starting at 6pm Saturdays, in person and online, the same service you'll see at both Sunday morning services (9am and 11am) so there are more than enough options! Pastor Jason is a down to earth, honest, man of God who preaches the Bible. That's it, that's all, just the Bible. If it's not in that book he's not preaching on it. And I've never been to a church where members are so highly encouraged to read their own Bibles! "Read your Bible!" I've heard it hundreds of times at this church, but can't honestly recall it being stated that simply and clearly at any other church. And that's Pastor Jason's gift - he preaches the Word of God simply and clearly with a passion for Jesus and a love for people that is exactly what you'd pray to find it a pastor. Hope to see you there!

Great local church just behind Mulligan's on Eau Gallie at the beach. I started attending a month…read moreor so ago, but am not yet a member. Appears to be non-denominational and very 'come as you are' - you'll see folks in their Sunday best and others in shorts and flip flops. The music is modern and actually quite good. No fire and brimstone, but the pastor (Jason) is animated and definitely passionate about God and the word. In other words, he's a captivating presenter without the 'holier than thou' attitude you find in so many churches these days. They believe that tithing is between you and God, so they don't pass offering plates or beg you to contribute. Instead, there are offering boxes at the exits and they have modern ways to give (by text, online, etc). They believe that children can be 'dedicated', but baptism is a choice a person makes personally once they're old enough to make up their own minds. Regardless of what kind of church you are used to, this one seems very welcoming and like it has its heart in the right place. There are 2 services on Sunday, and they have Sunday School, which they call Journey Classes. It's a large church, but not overplayed like some of those megachurches. They apparently also have a live web broadcast for those cannot attend in person. Hope that helps!
