Both my husband and I were on the worship team and in the church multiple days during the week, giving our time, money, and energy to this institution. I left Calvary in 2020 due to gaslighting and bullying. When covid protocols were not just ignore but the law was actively being broken during lockdown. During a period in which I had brought concerns to the pastor, I was met bullying and gaslighting messages from the pastor, pastor's daughter, and pastor's son in law. In those messages, I used scripture to defend my concerns and was met with "why are you using scripture here, it doesn't apply" or "you're misusing scripture" when I was clearly using scripture that is used in order to solve disputes.
When seeking restoration despite these abusive messages, I had a FaceTime with the pastors daughter. I had assumed peace was made, only to see Facebook statuses detailing the situation, albeit I was unnamed, I was aware these posts were made of me. In bringing up concerns, the pastor had rallied the congregation against me online, and my name was dragged through the mire, and even my non-CCC family members' names were dragged through the mire. When one brings up a concern to the church, be sure it is met with "do not ask questions", "when the pastor speaks, you don't ask questions, you just do it" "do not come for the Lord's anointed", or worse. Men from the church began to tel my husband that I was a "crazy, dramatic woman", leading my husband to be in the horrible position of telling them how inappropriate that was and that he had experienced the same situations as I did.
Be certain that anyone who raises their voice will be met with hate, vitriol, and abusive responses from the pastor and his family. Get out while you still can. read more
