Great little local distillery that is on the tour route from the cruise terminal. I would equate it as one step above a homemade still where the rums are actually quite tasty. $1 will get you a tasting of the five rums they make. Super cool hidden gem. The rum is outstanding and reasonable. You wont spend a ton of time here as it is tiny but a really special place on Tortola full of history. Smell the wood burning in the old stove as soon as you pull up. read more

I was impressed with my tour of this historic rum distillery, which was a short walk from the south end of Cane Garden Bay beach on the island of Tortola BVI. The machinery was dated, but it still does the job, since they continue to produce rum for sale (made from sugar provided by the nearby sugar cane field). The $4 tour was informative, and the $1 tasting included four small samples of their rums. The tour guide was friendly and cheerful. Rum and t-shirts were available for sale. Excellent! read more

I luv places like this. Historic ran by the same family for 400 years. The rum is handmade using their antique equipment. They've been brewing the four rums in the same old stone building as is. So cool. I also luv when I get the place to myself. I did what the sign had said and I belly'd up. I took a ton of pics outside and with the exterior. The original boiler is still in operation. It's over 400 years old pumping out sugar cane rum. I do not drink much but I do enjoy high end alcohol. Since it basically was a personal tour I passed the $1 USD dutchie pani to my left hand side and got a wonderful flight of 4 different shades of sugar cane rum. The first was a full on hot shot of the strongest they've got and I swear I could've lit the place on fire with one breath. It was strong like a strong woman killing it in politics. Strong but at the same time smooth. It tapered off as the shades began to fade. They have a spice rum and a 10 year old oak barrel rum. The ladies rum and the white rum were my choices. There was no Rottweiler bite to them. The ladies rum was very elegant on the palate. It was like the end of yoga class when you say the cheesy Namaste' at the end of class. It's quiet pleasant and very centered. An in the moment rum. The clear one at the end of the spectrum is stored in demijohns not the oak barrels and is a mix of fruit I believe. Soon as I finished, took all the pics I wanted and had a nice chat with a family member of this awesome Callwood family. Two tour busses full of tourist jumped out and flooded the entire space. The mass crowd cannot fit inside so they overflowed the entrance and into the road. I said thanks to the gent and headed to the beach. Happy I had it to myself before they showed up. Best deal for high end handmade organic rum at a family owned distillery in the world. $1 USD for four shots. Panty dropper right?! That's also the name of my favorite rum from them.
