I decided to take a walk over to Friedrichschain and check out Blumenladen Blattwerk. It was a beautiful day, and the florist was sitting outside at the cafe next door. When she saw I was interested she came in to the store, and I explained that I needed some flowers for my host. She put together a beautiful summer bouquet, and we talked a bit about the weather and the neighborhood. Overall it was a great experience, and if I ever need flowers again, I'd definitely go back.

This small shop carries a limited range of original interior design items, such as lamps, tables,…read moreshelves and coat racks, as well as smaller design items (key holders, fish sculptures, etc.). All are made by disabled people as part of a VIA Werkstaetten project. They add new items from time to time, and I find almost everything there to be well-designed, often clever, and usually quite unique. The furniture items, while not cheap, seem well-built and can be customized (colors, etc.)
