It is great for an "After-Work" as they say in French - with good drink specials (notably 6 euro cocktails, 4 euro wine, and pints for the price of the "demi" or half-pint) for their happy hour from opening until 8pm. Plus they use good rum (Cuban) for their mojitos - always a good sign. Try their mojito royale (it replaces the rum with champagne) for something delicious a little different! AND they serve pitchers - which is always nice if you are with a group (unless you are the only one paying for the pitchers...) The place gets packed fast - especially on Thursday. There is a DJ upstairs on most good nights and an upper mezzanine with some tables to get (a little) distance from the noise. Then the basement is wild and has it's own bar and DJ on party nights. The whole place becomes a crazy dance party for late nights towards the end of the week - and can be a great start for an epic night, or a great end to a more reasonable soiree.

I've gone to several gigs in this very cramped basement. Before, it was a venue for music you could bet on a horse here, A PMU in the upstairs bar. Gambling on horses was a thing here pre war until the early 2000s. Even during The Occupation. Sadly, the old clientèle was pushed out by Bobo hipsters and Stella Artois. Over the din of bad techno, one can hear the trotting hooves of horses and old men chattering about the races. The patrons of the past are cheeky with the patrons of the present, whispering the names of the winning horses in the toilet. For example I was given the tip "Bet on Pesky Diamond, in the third!!' Sadly, that race took place in 1968 so I was too late to make the bet. As I was walking up the tiny basement stair to the main I noticed what resembled ectoplasm oozing down the left wall. Worth a look especially if you need a winning bet tip and a free phantom kiss from a horse.

This is his favorite bar because it's cheap and you can just take your drink and food outside and sit at the park across the street by the river. Espresso (I forgot the French people don't call espresso "espresso", they call it "cafe". Excuse me!!) is only 1 euro, and drinks are about 3-4 euros. You will need to pay a deposit of 1euro if you want to bring your drink outside, but they'll give you back the money when you bring back the cup. At the end of the counter, they have free appetizers like chips and olives which you can take as much as you want. If you are in the neighborhood(but not sure it's worth making a detour), check it out!
