AMAZING... is the first word that comes to mind. We made our first visit here on an especially mild day in early November, and it was like walking through a post card. We ended up parking (for free) on a side street and walking down into the ravine, mainly because we didn't know where we were trying to go in the first place. This added about ten minutes to each end of our walk to/from the parking area, which I suspect would fill up VERY quickly in the summer. (In fact, I would thinking parking would be nightmarish in the summer... period.) But clearly, everybody parking around us was doing the same thing.
You need decent shoes, as there are several places on the paths where you are crossing slippery rocks. The more traction the better! We were amazed to see so many young French families with small children on the trail, which in many cases, meant CARRYING the children up and down the trails due to the steep climb or slippery rocks. None of the locals seemed even remotely fazed by that.
The views are breath-taking! And we could have gone on for hours, but we went about 3 hours out and back, round-trip. (Was really useful to have the Google map app to see where we were. Made a couple wrong turns!) Didn't see any facilities along the way (such as food, water, or toilets) so you may wish to plan accordingly. Great little beach about 20 minutes into the walk. Lots of people swimming, even in November!
Can hardly wait to go again! read more
