A cab from the area of Oura to this beach takes about 10-15 mins and costs about 10€, well worth it! I had seen this beach while browsing online and thought to myself "I really need to check this place out no matter what!", and it really paid off! As soon as you reach the area of São Rafael, all the houses become white and you can see several nice hotels in a hill that goes down all the way, reaching a tent which sells beach wear (hats, sunglasses and so on). From that point, walk and you will be amazed by the view! This place absolutely rocks and I was impressed by such stunning beach very close to town, as usually the very best ones are hidden gems and might even require a boat trip to a far away island. There are cliffs and rock formations everywhere and you can walk around slowly with no fear to explore the area. I saw a few fisherman trying their luck and many people enjoying the day. The beach's size is perfect, about 4 kms long and the more you walk through the limestone rock formations, you can find smaller inlets, magical hidden and quiet places (the ultimate romantic spot!). Also in this tiny areas the ocean is more calm so it's easier to swim, but beware if you don't know that in Portugal, Atlantic waters tend to be very cold. I saw toilets and public showers and a restaurant with loungers, which cost 10€ each (lots of soft sandy areas around so don't bother). This place probably gets extremely crowded in the peak of the summer but I went in April and it was stress free and fabulous.

Just in front of the lovely old town of Albufeira you'll find this popular beach…read more And it's nice beach. It's long, it's wide...and it's very clean. Nice color as well and well taken care of. A bunch of businesses rent out chairs and umbrellas and there's some water sports as well. Showers to rinse off the sand and salt too. Wooden planks to walk on, which is important since the sand is painfully hot in summer. Even though very popular and well visited it didn't feel overcrowded due to its size...there's enough room for everybody. There's only one restaurant directly on the beach. The "O Farol". It's an ok place, but if you just want some drinks and light food you should take a seat at the attached kiosk, which is run by the same restaurant. Great to enjoy the views and watch the world go by. As nice as this beach is, be aware that the water here is pretty cold. You either have to get really hot first or it will be only a quick dip in the water.

It is okay. Very busy. Must park far and walk. Tons on shops before you finally get to beach. Cheap…read moresouvenirs. BUSY. Beach has tons of rentals. Different things to enjoy. Pretty much clean. Much more to explore.

We booked our Kayak Tour off Viator, and they booked with Dolphins Driven. There were 3 adults and…read more2 children in our party, and overall there were only 12 adults total in the group for the tour. Options were available for single or double kayaks which was nice for the kids to be paired with each adult, and that I didn't have to pair with a random stranger. The guide spoke english, and was able to answer any questions we had. They took us out to sea via boat and then we got into the kayaks. The water was calm, and even though I was a bit tired - we got to go for 1.5 hours and it was not too challenging. I gave it a 4 out of 5 for 2 reasons: The first was that there really wasn't any instructions, safety briefing or what to expect before getting into the kayaks. It was as simple as hold your paddles here and have the paddles facing this way for forward. It may be an american thing to expect a bit more, but for never kayaking before it made me a bit nervous to not have instruction. The second was that we didn't see the Benagil Caves. We had booked via viator for a Benagil Cave Tour, and the Dolphins Driven promotional photos included photos of the Benagil cave - so it felt a bit misleading.

A huge stretch of soft-sand beach that's populated with beach bars & snack restaurants, life…read moreguards, lounge chairs and umbrellas for a fee, toilet and shower facilities. We parked at the northern most point of this beach which is where Maps.me took us, but I can't imagine where everyone parks when it's high season. We barely found a spot along this very narrow road and yet we were the only people actually on the beach because it was such a crazy windy day. So good luck with that part.
