We, wife and I, stopped in about 12:15 Sunday 3/27. When we walked in the door it wasn't busy up front and we were the only ones waiting to be seated. The host was busy checking out people paying. I think she was the host, no one acknowledged we were even standing there. As we were waiting it started to get very busy with groups of people walking in. Meanwhile, still no one acknowledged we were waiting. I felt like we were purposely be ignored. By this time,it was getting tremendously busy, loud, and very crowded with people piled up and still no one even looked at us. It was almost hazardous. A elderly lady came in with a walker and I almost backed up on her trying get out of the way of a waitress passing by. By now I was steaming. No one was at the counter paying and she told us to hold on, first time we've been acknowledged and she track down someone to pay. Was this for real? I've waited in many restaurants to be seated, but this was almost comical. My wife and I finally turned around and walked out. Absolute worse experience at a restaurant for me ever. I understand places are short staffed because of working shortage and everyone has adapted to longer waits, but this was in excess. The greatest of examples on how not to treat people. read more

We've been coming here for quite some time. They always have good comfort food and a great variety for kids. They always super friendly and quick on their service. They also have more than ample seating for big groups and there is typically no wait to be seated. Last time I had their marinated chicken special. It was very juicy and had enough sause on it but still not completely drenched. It also came with a couple veggies and your choice of bread. I chose the mac-n-cheese and lima beans. I would like to start off by saying i know it's father's day and that places are busy but today's experience was one of the worst i've ever experienced here at the restaurant. we were told the wait would be 5-10 mins waited 25 mins and someone took out spot outside after we requested outside seating which made out wait longer. it took 15 mins for someone to ask us what beverage we would like and we didn't get our beverages til our food came out! All of the food was ice cold when it hit the table eggs were not made with cheese as requested, sausage links were hard as bricks, home fries were cold and tasted weird. overall experience when someone did check on us they thanked us for our patience and for our kindness. we only ate a bite of each item we had and felt weak to our stomachs afterwards. I have ate hear number of times and has been good. Today we came here to eat a steak and potato and prime rib. We ordered the steak and prime rib med thay came out past well done and cold. We ate the potato and the bread. We told the waitress that the food was cold so the manager said she was going to not charged for the steak. But see charged for the potato and the bread. The manager did not even ask if we would like a another steak or prime rib. See gust said that you should have told me earlier. Just back from the very worse breakfast my wife and I ever had. The room was freezing so much I was blowing into my hands to warm them. Both my wife's food and mind was absolutely room temperature. The coffee came cold too. I could only eat the eggs and we took the bacon home for the dogs. The order was wrong also. To add insult to injury, the waitress did try to get us a discount (i did not ask for that) and I could hear a male voice arguing against it. Also, it was exactly 8:00 AM and the place was almost empty but it still took 25 minutes to get the food (we were both freezing. Ceiling fans were on high. We used to like the lunch but after getting treated this way we are done with this place. By the way, we didn't want a refund or even a discount. The guy pushing back was WAY in the wrong. Very slow service- sat in my booth for more 5 minutes before a server stopped by; 3 of them walked by without making eye contact. Ordered the pepper jack burger and fries with a sweet tea. My first refill was prompt but they pour way too much ice in. It's 41 degrees outside today. The burger was just ok. The patty was way too thin and the bun was way too big. Tomatoes and lettuce were not fresh and I had to ask for mustard and mayo after the burger arrived. The only good thing was the pickle and the fries. The fries were crispy and seasoned. read more

It was my first time there. I really enjoyed it. To see the people ans they all greet one another and know each other. The staff was friendly and it was clean. They also have specials that they write on a black chalkboard out in the area as you're coming into the restaurant you could read the specials that they have. I had Pamela she gave excellent service. my glass was always full food came out hot and it was very good I had the chop steak with peppers and onions and I had fried squash and Pinto beans and sweet tea. I got a slice of their lemon cake it was very delicious all the cakes are homemade and I got a slice of the strawberry cake to take with me. They accommodate big parties they also have a party room or conference room and they also have an outside dining area. when coming to eat there I would strongly recommend you to ask for Pamela she's very polite and very knowledgeable and she will also take care of you and give you great service. read more

Like I said in my last review of Cagney's that I would be coming back to try their Baked Ziti. I wish I would've went some where else. The pasta was over boiled and rubbery, it was caked in cheese and had a ton of sauce dumped on it. I dumped some ranch on it and attempted to eat it, but it just wasn't good. I took it home and let my brothers and sisters eat it. I'll go back again, but I won't be getting any pasta. Their burgers however are delicious! read more

This place is really good. Every time me and my family eat here, the service is great and even though they are always packed, we always get in and out very quickly. The food is a variety of foods and so far everything I have had has been delicious. They actually have really great chicken wings which surprised me because usually you have to go to a sports bar type place for good wings but this is definitely a family restaurant. read more

Love this place! Food is good and cheaper for us empty nesters than cooking. Really, we had a house fire in 2015 and were displaced for over 3 months in a hotel nearby. It saved us many times over. This being somewhat of a holiday the management must have been off considering the unprofessional behavior of the staff. The restaurant was not that busy. The kitchen was out of most of the items on the menu so a Greek salad was ordered and was missing three items that make up the salad. They were also out of marinara sauce for a second order. The daily specials were no longer available either. The waitress should have told us what they were out of before our order was placed. And once she brought the food that was the last we saw of her so no refills on the drinks. I had to track her down to get the check. But then things get better as while we were eating the restaurant phone rings and a female around the kitchen area starts yelling "someone get the G** D*** phone". You could have heard her outside. Not exactly family friendly. This was years ago a good place to eat. Now not so much unless you want your kids to get educated on bad service and raw language. read more

We stopped in this past Sunday. It seems weekends must not be the time to stop in as this is our second and final trip to this business. Upon arrival the hostess seemed more intent on what time she got off work than she did on her job. Once seated, we waited about 5 minutes for our waitress, who seemed fine... She took our drink order, then when she came back, before they hit the table, "yall are ready right?" Sure....wtf? I ordered a burger and she ordered the Sunday special...chicken breast. While we were waiting, to be fair, a gentleman seemed to be having a heart attack and the local EMS showed up. Our wait rime for food may have been delayed a bit due to this, and Ill excuse 15 minutes.... When the food did arrive, there were no napkins...apparently a high dollar commodity, and no silverware. When the waitress was asked, she rolled her eyes and huffed off. She returned with one set of silverware, and two napkins. When I asked for silverware, she actually said...but you have a burger.... When she came back a few minutes later...by this time I wasnt keeping track, she brought a refil of drinks with her ....fair enough...maybe the events had her flustered. When I went for the refil, Im not sure what she brought me, but it was flat, and not drinkable....flavor and smell was similar to 409, or other cleaning agent. When we asked about it, the answer was they had just cleaned the taps and perhaps it was residue... No one was available to discuss this, and while I waited for a girl to clock out, who didnt seem to know how to use the terminal, that just happens to be part of the register, the girl taking my card asked how it was.. Chicken was overcooked and dry, burger was charcoal, tomatoes were over ripe, and someone does not know how to clean a dispenser... Oh..glad you enjoyed it....that will be 19 something..... I paid it, and in the tip section I did leave a few dollars, but its the last time any of us will go here for anything.... This would be a five-star place if the servers weren't so Slack. Some of the servers want to give excuses all day long on why they are not giving you good service. There are a few servers in there that are top notch. However most pick and choose who they are going to serve right. I have waited way too long on food in this establishment. Most of the time it has been ready in the window and just sitting there. The problem with this place is the waitresses. They have awesome food you can get anything from American Greek and Italian. They have an excellent outdoor dining place. They also have a room that is good for parties. They offer breakfast all day. And they have good sandwiches and Italian food. However is the American Plate lunches that are awesome. They have great marinated beef strips and chicken. They also have awesome Pizza and the chicken wings aren't too shabby. However where this place loses some customer quality is in the servers. Some put out the food fast and others don't. There are a couple of good ones there just be careful and not get the bad ones. You will wait for your food way too long. I have heard that not all waitresses are created equal here from one of the old cashiers that no longer works there. She said you should never wait longer than 40 minutes for your food then it is the waitress's fault. It is sad because this place has awesome food and prices I just wish some of their waitresses we're a little better. But overall not a bad place just be careful if you want to come here and get out it's not the fastest gun in town. For that you may want to go to Speedy lohr's on number 8 they will get you in and out a lot quicker. Even when they're busy Speedy lohr's on number 8 has never made me wait over 15 minutes for anything on their menu. And the food is so good at Speedy lohr's number 8. But I do like Cagney's for breakfast and occasional a late Italian dinner. Most notable are the marinated beef strips and the marinated chicken. Best vegetables pintos with chopped onions collard greens and their cabbage. Their cornbread is not too shabby. Have high-dollar desserts but their cheesecake is worth it! There were four of us. The omlet was great and so was the burger; however, the two chicken plates were not. One of the plates the chicken was extremely fatty and the other was raw in the middle. Switched out of the chicken plates for a stromboli which came out doughy the first time second was better. The other plate we switched out for a steak quesadilla which was very greasy. Best breakfast ever! We've been looking for a new place for our Saturday morning breakfast outing since we moved here a month ago and THIS IS THE PLACE! We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming hostess and server and waited no time at all for our coffee and to place our order. The coffee deserves 5 stars all by itself!!!! I have visited this restaurant several times and enjoy their breakfast. However, each time I have noticed that the restaurant draws primarily an older, conservative crowd who tend to cast disapproving looks on my biracial family. I realize that this world is still full of racists people and that I have accepted that I will be discriminated against due to my choice in a husband... However, I continued going to Cagneys since I figured the customer base and their attitudes were not necessarily the business owners fault. A few days ago I visited this location around 8am with my 2 year old biracial daughter. When we entered the restaurant it seemed everyone but the staff turned around to stare. The restaurant was already about 3/4 full and there were only 2 minorities in the whole place. There was a waitress standing at the hostess station but she did not acknowledge us. We stood there for a couple minutes with no acknowledgement from the staff. Finally I said, "Excuse me ma'am may we sit on the patio?" She said yes so we made our way back there. The patio was completely empty which I was happy about since my two year old can get a little antsy and it was a beautiful day so I figured we could sit on the patio and enjoy some breakfast without disturbing any of the customers who already seemed disturbed by our mere presence. We were followed onto the patio by a large middle age, overweight man who appeared to be an owner or manager. He sat at the table directly in front of the emergency exit and proceeded to stare at my daughter and I with contempt the ENTIRE time we were there whilst also chain smoking. I wanted to say something to him so bad but didn't. When we got up to leave he again followed us back into the restaurant. I went to the cash register to pay and had to stand in line waiting while being stared at with disgust by a group of 6 older white men who sat near by. I left the restaurant and looked back on to the patio to see if the man had returned but he had not and it was empty again. This reinforced my perception that he had come to the patio specifically to watch us, and perhaps guard the emergency door???? I was highly offended and felt very unwelcome. It seemed like there should have been WHITES ONLY signs still hanging on the door. The girl who was running the cash register was equally rude. She did not introduce herself ask how we were or how our food/experience was simple took our money and said "thanks". When I returned home I started looking up reviews and was not surprised to learn that others have had very similar experiences. I will not be returning to Cagney's anymore... read more

Waitresses are wonderful. Food for the most part is good, however the half owner and gm of the store is the worst person to be in customer service. He has a nasty attitude toward his customers and refuses to make right wrongs if they mess up. I was a regular until my food was made wrong I didn't get what I ordered, toppings were left off. I called to let the manager know and he responded by saying he would "give me a cup " of the toppings left off. I was not rude nor am I a complainer but the way he handled the situation was horrible and he was just plain nasty to me. I will never give my business again. So overall the food is ok but the manager and owner cares nothing about his customers and does not deserve anyone's business. read more

We have eaten at Cagney's many times, but last night was terrible. My flounder was fried very nicely and I would order this again. My guests open face sandwich was terrible. We had envisioned real carved meat, not processed deli meat and nice thick bread, not thin loaf bread. Thank goodness the gravy was on the side since they brought a one cup measurement of thick gelatinous gravy to put on a thin sandwich. The wait staff was anything but professional, as she propped her knees into the booth and stood over us to take the order. Unprofessional. This restaurant has normally been one of our favorites. We decided to visit during one of our Christmas shopping days for lunch. Restaurant was not busy. We were served our menus and water. Waitress waited on two more tables after us and served the food to one of these. After 20 - 30 minutes of waiting we decided we would not be waited on. Was not offered any explanation from the cashier as to why our waitress would not come back for our order. Not a good experience. read more

After moving to Lexington 5 months ago we decided to give Cagney's a try. Weekly we would drive by and the parking lot was filled. We would try a new place once a week. Today we pulled in to try it out! Greeted and seated quickly. Waitstaff was quick and attentive. Our waitperson was very good. I ordered the Reuben sandwich with house chips. The Sandwich was all Rye bread with very, very little meat, very little sauerkraut and 10000 island dressing from a bottle. The sandwich was cold..The house chips were cold and soggy. My wife had the Meatloaf with baked potato and broccoli casserole The potato was barley warm The butter would not melt on it.. The broccoli casserole was cold.. The meatloaf was OK. Overall we were very disappointed in the food. The prices were very high! The menu has 1000 things on it.. That tipped me off from the beginning. To much.. to be good. Again our waitperson was very nice..Our advice skip this place and go uptown Lexington. You will be surprised in the difference! read more
