I would avoid the Cage & Miles law firm. Especially Ryan Goulet and Jillian Duggan-Herd as attorneys. They both did not handle my divorce well for me. It seemed Ryan was more concerned about my ex-husband than me. He pressured and rushed me to accept my settlement. And a week later when Ryan emailed me a Marital Settlement Agreement (a formal written agreement of the term sheet that I signed a week prior) to review, I discovered I could have had more to negotiate with. Ryan even wrote in the email "Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything you wish to change or add". And boy did I. There were 5 things I wanted to change, especially one. When I emailed Ryan the changes I wanted to make, he called me and told me that I could not make changes to what I already signed. So then why did he email me "Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything you wish to change or add"? Ryan did not tell me that I could have had the condo appraised and with that amount, ($66,623.50) that could have been part of my settlement. I was so upset with him that I spoke to Jamie Cage, a partner in the firm. She told me that Jillian Duggan-Herd, another partner in the firm, would be involved in my case and would negotiate with my ex-husband's lawyer about the condo appraisal. Jaime also told me that Jillian told her that she worked with my ex-husband's lawyer in the past and that my ex-husband's lawyer would not "F***" with her. But I was not satisfied with the amount, it was way too low, $5,500.00. Then Jillian told me that she would go back and ask for an additional $4,500.00. I did not agree, the amount was still too low in my opinion. It looked like my ex-husband's lawyer did "F***" with Lillian. I told Jillian that I wanted my money back from what I paid the firm and she told me that she could not do that. I learned later that any "Good" firm has insurance and should have given me my money back because I was not satisfied with their service. I ended up hiring another attorney just to finish up my divorce for me. I thought if you hired an attorney, you would be told of all of your options. That was not the case for me. If you & your spouse are getting a divorce, try to work together by hiring a mediator. They know the law and don't charge an outrageous amount like lawyers do. Save your money. If Cage & Miles wants me to remove my post because they didn't like what I had to say, I won't so don't ask me. Don't be mad at me, be mad at Ryan Goulet and Jillian Duggan-Herd. read more

I highly recommend this firm. Jillian Duggan-Herd represented me in my military divorce and while she is very well-versed in divorce law and is also one of the top rated attorneys in California, the part of her representation of me that meant the most was, she gave me peace of mind. I was blindsided by my former spouse who abruptly abandoned me, our 23 year marriage and our children in California where I had no family (we were there on his orders) and found myself completely alone and in dire straits. Jillian took my case and from the very beginning she took control of everything legal related and in turn, took those worries off my mind. One of the most challenging aspects of my divorce (for me) was the broken trust I felt when my husband abandoned us. I was CONSUMED with emotion and because of it, I simply could not think logically. When the hearing appointment was being made, she didn't want the following month's appointment, because to my surprise, she has a honeymoon to go to that I had no idea about. She didn't ask to substitute Cage Or Miles, she simply delayed the hearing. Thousands of dollars later, I am stuck in an uphill battle. Take my word for it, do not hire this firm. I worked with Jaime Cage for three years on my high-conflict divorce. I can't say enough good things about Jaime's sharp legal expertise and her calm demeanor throughout this ordeal! She was persistent and dogged in moving my case along. It wasn't easy...she dealt with every abuse of the legal system imaginable generated by the "other side" in what should have been a very straight-forward case. This included multiple changes in opposing counsel, unwarranted changes in forensic accountants, streams of duplicative subpoenas, repetitive false claims, false allegations against professionals and other parties associated with the case, endless delay tactics, and ultimately an unnecessary trial which she tried to head off numerous times with various negotiations and settlement offers. She successfully got court sanctions in my favor time and time again which helped offset some of these needless delays we were subjected to over the years. One of Jaime's best attributes is being truly pro-active with my case. She consistently took initiative to come up with ideas and plans of action that I could take. I never had to chase her down - she was always following up with me on the issues or would contact opposing counsel to follow up on their progress. Jaime always came up with fair yet strategic actions to protect my interests. She listened to all my concerns and "what ifs," and kept me calm and focused with her thoughtful responses. She was a super-sharp advisor to me throughout.
