Suggested to us by a local as an LGBT friendly environment, we ended up visiting twice during our trip. Poplular spot. Range of ages but skewed a little older. Not a meat market. Not just a bar. Most seemed to be dining there as well but there are stools at the bar. Outdoor seating as well. Waitstaff all spoke English. Menu had English translations. No pride flags. No erotica. A perfect way for gay folks to enjoy the Viennese café culture amongst their people. Beautiful interior and great sidewalk views. Food is reasonable priced and tasty. Though you come here more for the packed gay atmosphere than as a foodie destination. Pumpkin Cream Soup: Very creamy for vegan. Maybe they used coconut? A great way to start the meal. Beef Pancake Soup: It's like the best part of a tafelspitz, without spending a lot of time and money on the full experience. Really great rich broth that paired nicely with the chewy pancake slices. Bruschetta with Roasted Pumpkin: Not quite as memorable as the pumpkin soup. Shreds of pumpkin on a baguette slices. Felt a little dry, like they need more spread between the bread of pumpkin. Debrenziner: A very hearty snack, almost a meal for some. Two large and thin sausages, almost overflowing from the plate. A nice crusty roll. Mustard and fresh horseradish on the side. It's kinda like a do-it-yourself hot dog. Chicken Wiener Schnitzel: Pretty much how a schnitzel should be. Pounded thin, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Lots of nicely fried potato chunks on top. And I love how they add one half of a cherry tomato so it seems like you're getting veggies, without actually having to eat many veggies. Very filling! Fried Emmentaler: I was joking around calling this cheese schnitzel, but it kinda is. Three large triangles of breaded emmentaler cheese. Crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Comes with some salad, to balance out the richness. Beef Goulash: The only dish I wasn't a big fan of. The beef was a little tough and fatty. And the sauce tasted more like tomato, dominating the onion and paprika. Also, the dumpling was kinda dry and bready. Käsespätzle: Like very cheesy mac & cheese, but with spätzle instead of macaroni. Seriously, there was so much sauce and it was so rich, I was using my husband's extra potatoes to soak up the extra cheese. Apricot Pancakes: Always save room for dessert! These thin pancakes are closer to thin crêpes than thick American pancakes. And the real treat is the generous amount of delicious sweet apricot jam. Süsses Frühstück: A breakfast that's basically like a dessert. It's French toast with Nutella and bananas inside. No need for any syrup, since it's sweet enough. Perfect way to start the day. Mozarttarte: Visually pleasing with the layers of colorful cream and cake. Tasted like a typically delicious Viennese cake, can't go wrong. Viennese Iced Coffee: More like a milk shake than a coffee! Two scoops of ice cream, coffee and whipped cream. If you like sweet coffee drinks, don't skip this. Häferlkaffe: If you want a bigger sized mug of coffee, this is the thing to order. Better than American coffee though, since it's made with espresso and steamed milk. read more

We came for brunch on a Saturday and we got a table right away. We chose this place as our only cafe experience in Vienna. We were looking for somewhere affordable and with good service (since we had heard so many horror stories regarding pricey and mean cafe's). This place was perfect. We ordered the Iced Viennese cafe (6,40), savoy burger (5,30), lachsfruhstuck (marinated salmon with toast and horseradish) (8,60), Einspanner (4,20) and apple strudel. Everything was good and well priced. The marined salmon in particular was our favourite. It came with toast and went so well with the horseradish. The Einspanner may just look like whipped cream but it tasted so good. Very sinful. But good. The burger was also the perfect breakfast item. We ended with the apple strudel. The server recommended we get it with the sauce and we did. The apple strudel itself isn't very sweet so if you want something sweeter you should definitely get it with the sauce. If you prefer it not as sweet, don't get it with the sauce. The service was super nice and fast. They answered all our questions and were patient with us. The interior was also really beautiful. Wow. I mean WOW! Right across from the Nashmarkt , very convenient and very worth a visit. Coffee and cake in the afternoon is the great combination aside from a nap. But now I think that must come after. My partner ordered the Merlange, what Cafe Savoy is known for. It was absolutely wonderful. read more

The food looked good and simple. The cafe was recommended on a Vienna visitor guide on an LGBT tour. I showed up around 19:00 and asked for a table by myself. The waitress said all were reserved except inside. I asked if I could sit inside, and she seemed to reluctantly said yes. I sat down and after about 5 minutes a waiter asked if I needed a menu. I said yes. He gave me one. I was ready after two minutes to order a drink, water, soup and salad. I closed my menu and kept looking at staff in order to order. Everyone appeared to avoid eye contact. After at least 15 minutes, the phone rang and staff immediately picked it up to take an order. So I decided to get up and leave. Telling the person on the food the service was terrible. Don't know if this is because I was alone, appeared Greek or American or why...but I do not recommend this place under any circumstance. I ended up at a nearby restaurant which was amazing and I will review. read more

Before heading off to Vienna, we studied our German tourist phrases and researched LGBT+ friendly restaurants. Café Savoy was at the top of our list. Our luncheon at Café Savoy was delightful. We did not have a reservation, but we were seated promptly. We both had the Wiener Schnitzel, a wonderful white wine, sparking water, and we shared an apfelstrudel. I speak German about as well as a 6-year old. The waiter was very gracious about this. German is a difficult language and our waiter seemed genuinely pleased we were trying to learn more German on our visit. (He also spoke perfect English, but was willing to help us with German.) read more

Our friends took my hubby and I come to this place, well, my hubby did know this place, so it was just new to me. I heard this place is quite famous for the local gay scene, and it also got really nice interior design in the house. Although we were all sitting outside, I did went inside to have a look. Just like they said, this place looked fantastic, it like I went to a antique store, but instead of that, it was a bar which was playing some cool music. I like it here, it was quite lovely place to have a drink. The location of the place is another thing should be mention, it faces to the Naschmarkt which opened on every Tuesday and Saturday, personally, I like the market, it's usually really busy, but they do have some good offer. So if you are close by, and on the opened day, don't miss that out. Savoy is great place to meet up or just have a break after. Our waiter was a bit strange, well, at least I found it so. My friends told me that is just Viennese style. How the local truly talk and act. So I didn't really think too much about it. we had a great time there anyway, it was a great place to chill together. read more

While this bars decor might be beautiful, the staff is extremely rude and pretentious. The older man working behind the bar could not have seem more disgusted with us. Why? No idea. We had not had anything to drink before coming in. We were trying our best to communicate in the native language here and tried being friendly. The stars are for the atmosphere. We were told by our waiter at dinner earlier in the evening that this place was a must see, despite the staff being rude. He was not wrong about the staff - the only way we received service was because the nice Viennese gentlemen sitting next to us yelled at a server to serve us. The Savoy is definitely a traditional coffee shop and I am glad we stopped by for a drink. Considering the service, if 2.5 stars were available as an option that would be my rating. read more

6.8 for a mélange and chocolate truffle cake. A gay café near the Naschmarkt. Known for its large, Versailles-like mirrors. Fairly empty when I went there in the middle of the afternoon, but some gays came by later on. The coffee was mediocre at best, but the cake was good.
