It's ok. The internal decoration is amazing and sitting is rather comfy and cozy. The staff is nice, but the food is a bit overwhelming, especially given the price and abundance of good places in the neighborhood. read more

Very cozy and warm and it is right next to Einstein house musuem. You can go to the Einstein house musuem first and then sit at the cafe and have a snack. Service was excellent. I would come back and bring a friend again. It is located in the old town area and not too far from the clock tower. You can walk around the entire area and then come to the cafe too.

The husband of the owner took our order and we had a small chat with him and he was very funny and easygoing. We sat at the window where we could watch the people walking by, which was great. We ordered the Tagessuppe (soup of the day), which was Brotli Soup (bread soup) and it was delicious. Light with tomatoes and zucchini, served with fresh bread. I ordered a housemade iced tea and a black tea and husband ordered a chai tea. They also have a basket of games for you to play, so it's very Bernese... slow and easy! Highly recommend and also make sure you check out the washroom. The floor is glass so you can see the old water canals.

Food was very good, we ordered an appetizer but got it prepared differently (shrimp cocktail came out cooked in some shallot juice, but it was really good so no complaints). Better than most tartar sauces I get usually when I order fish and chips My wife ordered the Spanakopita, she said all the ingredients were fresh though the dough was more like a calzone than a filo dough, but it tasted good Switzerland isn't cheap, so the cost was a bit more than the US (I live in NYC) but with the service fee included it really was close to a wash as to what we would have spent on NYC when you include tip. Service was good, besides getting a different shrimp dish. If I am ever in Bern again, I would go here again. I can see why it's been open since 1973
