When our orders came in, the chef sang in each option with a smattering of jokes for each patron. I find TripAdvisor and Yelp (and perhaps a few others) useful to a point, and that point is who is doing the rating. In Concord, NH, the Subway got a 4 star rating, which is either like a Chicago ballot box stuffing or a sigh of Concord's lack of foodies. Nevertheless, if you read some reviews you can get a handle on the quality of the process, so we walked to Pommes d'Epices, 66 rue de Bouvreuil, 02 35 71 73 57 Grade "A". We ordered a menu of Entrée and Plat. I had a Crousti Neufchâtel was a Neufchâtel cheese "crotin" roasted inside a potato crust. The crust was crusty, and when cut liquid Neufchâtel flowed out while perhaps 60% remained firm inside the crust. An absolutely unbelievably delicious and unusual dish, served with a tiny glass of corse tart apple sauce that perfectly offset the richness of the cheese, and a small salad. My plat was a veal stew, cooked in a coco curry sauce and served in a half height Mason jar, with some perfectly roasted slices of potato and a sprig of roasted cherry tomatoes. Another spectacular at dish! It didn't taste of chocolate, it wasn't spicy, but the combination with good veal produced a flavor I've never tasted before. Judy had an entrée of tapas, a unique potato salad, and a small salad with lightly sautéd pepper julienne. Delicious. She then had gamba's, large shrimp (does that count as an oxymoron?), roasted in olive oil and garlic, with roasted potatoes and a roasted sprig of cherry tomatoes. Both of her dishes would rate an "A" by themselves, but were paled by my choices. This is an excellent mostly local restaurant by all measures but price, which was quite modest. The young chef is to be admired for his creative cooking and combinations. Do go here without question!
