Began the night with a local beer selection, Star, a Pilsner by microbrewery Alingsås Bryggeri AB. A little darker and hoppier than an American Pilsner but ended up being the perfect compliment for my scallop starter. Beautifully plated in its own shell, cut into slivers and topped with brown soy butter, Yuzu mayonnaise and a bit of puffed rice for texture. Absolutely charming presentation. For the main course I chose the Mezze maniche. Imagine seared filet, pan fried guanciale and truffle enrobed in the most creamy, flavorful sauce with hints of black peppercorns and lastly topped with aged pecorino. Sounds impeccable, right? I try to not be that person, the prisoner of the moment.. but taste buds don't lie. Sweden just slaps. Or as they say-- built different. I don't know how they prepared this dish with so much depth of flavor but I honestly contemplated on kissing the chef. At the very least ask if they're hiring a commis chef. When seated I received water to drink while looking trough the menu. The waiter was then quick to take my order. I order a pasta with beef. The food arrived quickly, was neatly plated and tasted good. After a short while the waiter came back to make sure that everything was to my liking. When finished I was asked if I was interested in dessert. I was. I went for the nut ice cream which was delicious. This also arrived quickly. Overall a great experience. I would definitely consider this restaurant next time I visit Jönköping.
