Found Café Cité while exploring hip Barrio Yungay, Chile's first residential neighborhood which is reflected in the architecture. This barrio is also known for its vibrant street art charged with social and political messages. One covers one whole side of the exterior of Café Cité which drew us in. The inside of the cafe has an industrial feel with a concrete counter and metallic tables and chairs softened by tropical wallpaper and indoor plants
Ordered an almond latte and an espresso which came with this golden-leaf coffee spoon, which was a nice touch. Shared a vegan pistachio muffin-roll. I don't know who thought of this combo but this needs to happen because it was good. Throughout, the baristas were singing to 2000 pop/R&B on the speakers. There was so much going on in this place and I was all for it.
While you're in the barrio, walk through Plaza Yungay and visit the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, a must when visiting Chile. read more
