Hallo guys, So I'm in Koln (Cologne ) Germany right, and I'm diabetic, so when we get hungry we have to stop then and eat something. After, shopping I went back to this spot because food / pastries looked so, good. The lady's were nice! However, the guy (waiter) who came to my table kept disappearing to take other people orders who came in after me. I waited patiently, until I couldn't. I was hungry, diabetic hungry there's a difference. All I ordered was a cappuccino, & a mini egg sandwich & cucumber sandwich thingy. The 4th time he came back he barked @ me you pay me, but I didn't get any food yet. I had enough of him! I asked girls for manager before leaving. The waiter's demeanor is of a person who doesn't like certain races, and fine put up a sign saying so & we'll see how long u stay in business? It's 2026, not everyone is so ignorant anymore. I've traveled 70+ countries, and never had any waiter or anyone speak down to me like this, and No it wasn't a Tourist kinda hatred which is not ok either. He didn't want to serve me. So, if you're in Koln (Cologne) Do Not patronize this bakery / restaurant bc if you're Indian, Spanish, Arab, Black, Dark Italian, Jewish etc. and get this guy he'll upset you & spoil your vacation. I spoke to the manager, but she looked afraid of him. However, if upper management allow him to run paying Tourist from different countries away they don't need your business. I guess Owner is so Rich he doesn't need anymore money. I guess his annual bottom line is in the green. So, many businesses go outta business because of waiters like him. Word gets around, and people stop coming. You've been warned! I Do Not, and would never recommend this spot. I left and ate @ elsewhere. Happily! I'm only included some photos so you'll know the spot. It's not the food it's the worker.

Everything looked so delicious it was narrow down hour lunch choices. I had a Halve Hahn (half a roll) - a German Rhineland specialty - basically a rye roll with cheese, topped with a spicy mustard. Yum. My wife had what appeared to be a veggie cheese sandwich, also delicious. I had to try one of the lidl man pretzels, but this was disappointing, seemed like maybe it had been sitting for a while. For dessert we had a sugary bun that was amazing. Good place!

Found largely in areas prone to foot traffic, the storefront at Neumarkt most popular due to outdoor seating just steps away from Cologne Cathedral, it was after crossing a line of tourists that products both sweet and savory came into view, a chaotic scene at 15h30 admittedly unexpected and staff struggling to keep up. Divided across several counters plus a push cart, all offering Bernhard Merzenich's famous Nougatbrezel but other choices varied, it was after brief survey that three options were selected, an older employee unable to accept payment and thus passing guests off to a younger woman with a sour disposition. Charged just over €5, and exiting to find seating less frantic, it was minutes later that teeth penetrated a still-warm Doughnut, the Brioche base a little overworked and thus too chewy while perhaps a teaspoon of Jam added almost nothing. Opting to taste a traditional Almond Horn next, nearby Pigeons far more satisfied by the Berliner than this guest, it was a mistake in retrospect to finish each bite bound by Macaroon-like paste before testing the Nougat Pretzel, because for all its fame the taste was nowhere near on par with other Bakeries in Germany while the texture made it seem likely to have been hanging around for awhile.
