I'm a bit torn on this one because the space is quite lovely, and the staff were nice but I just didn't love it.
Boyfriend and I had had a delightful long riverside walk and were ready for breakfast. This was the most local pick we could find (again, no internet so we were guessing what was good!) I ordered a bacon sandwich and a decaf Americano, and Boyfriend got a regular Americano and the quiche.
The food came out super quick, which was nice, but when my plate was put down I was definitely surprised! When I think of a bacon sandwich, I think a few strips of bacon between two slices of buttered bread, with ketchup. This was two pieces of dry toast with an entire package of bacon flopped on top, and three pats of cold butter in a cup on the side. Definitely unexpected. There was WAY too much bacon to make a sandwich out of, and most of the bacon was extremely fatty. I cut off a lot of the fat, and attempted to eat as much as I could - it was a challenge! I asked for ketchup and it was very quickly and cheerfully provided, so I mostly used my knife and fork to dunk bacon with a bit of toast.
Boyfriend's quiche was much worse - it literally crumbled apart like it had been sitting there for a week, or had been cooked for hours on a low heat until all the moisture disappeared from the eggs. Very odd.
The coffee was pretty damn good, I have to say, and the free wifi was a great help. I really wanted to love this place, I just was not best pleased with the food. read more
