It is delicious! Not only their coffee but they can customize their coffee off the menu. My BF loves their big tea menu. In the morning an iced coffee with a shot of hazelnut and a bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese is breakfast bliss to me at least! Their other menu items are delicious as well. The wireless is good (versus the places with the slow wifi). I have gone in and worked on resumes many times. It can get warm in there in the summer but they take out the windows and it is fine. It is kinda cramped in there and can feel a little awkward the first time you go in but you get used to it after you sit down and then it doesn't seem so bad. This place would do well to fix their ventilation system. I usually sit in the back where the big tables are to get work done while having a cup of coffee or lunch, and would literally get chocked by the smoke and just the general smell of the food they're frying right next to me, and trust me, they have some serious frying action going on, especially during lunch time. The problem is that while most restaurants have their kitchens in the kitchen (i.e. in a different room), Cafenation has their "kitchen" right out front where the dining area is. This would be fine if they have ventilation fans like many of the breakfast diners do, except they don't and really should. The smell's the worst in the back, so I guess you're fine if you just hang out in the front. read more

I am in here on a near daily basis to do my schoolwork. There is a pleasant, easygoing atmosphere provided by a team of employees who enjoy the non-micromanagement there. The music is great, and if the weather is right, they take our the front windows. Their coffee is fantastic, their Earl gray tea is amazing, and all the food I've had so far has been delicious. They even have tofu cream cheese for their bagels for lactards like me! I suggest this place to anyone. read more

Great place to go with your laptop and hang out for awhile. Open til 10 weekdays. Moderate prices. Not a lot of space but it's fine. Pretty good music too--none of that Starbucks easy listening crap. Glad this place is close to my apt so I have somewhere to go since my internet is gone. read more

Excellent breakfast place, usually crowded but nothing off-putting. My criticisms are few: the cheddar they use in their crepes is incredibly sharp--nearly sour--tasting, and as many times as I've tried it, it's never gotten better. Second, the ventilation system can't handle the smoke generated by the crepe machines, so it can get a little acrid sometimes. But these are very minor matters and easily overlooked. Fresh, delicious bagel and egg sandwiches are always a second choice, but the crepes are the main attraction. Incredible coffee, too. read more

I wish there were more cafes like this in the land of Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts! I live near here and have been a couple of times for coffee and this weekend went for breakfast. The coffee is dark and strong and they they give free refills on drip coffee if you're ordering food. I had a spinach with hollandaise sauce on a whole-wheat bagel. It was tasty and filling and was ready in seconds. Not bad considering it was a Sunday at 10 am and they were packed. The staff are all really nice! None of the attitude stereotypical of baristas. We didn't have any trouble finding a table, though the place was packed and noisy and we didn't linger as long as I would have liked. It was fine for a breakfast with friends but too bustling to sit by oneself with a book. I've only ever been on weekend mornings though, maybe it's quieter at other times. read more

All of the food and drinks I've gotten from here are excellent. I have no complaints on that front. The regular staff (newbies are always fish out of water) are on point and usually very friendly. Plus, it's locally owned/run. On the down side, the lay out is poorly arranged and difficult to navigate. When there are more than a few customers at once things get uncomfortably crowded very fast. Also, as with most small/local shops it's uber hipster. B.O, dirty hair, bad wall art and entitled attitudes are never a good thing. But that's to be expected in Boston. read more

I moved to Boston a couple years ago and was delighted to find Cafenation down the road from me. At the time, their coffee and espresso was some of the best I'd had, and their breakfast options (especially crepes!) were delicious. However, about 6 months after I moved in, something changed: my guess is the ownership. Their coffee and espresso have gotten steadily worse since, and they no longer offer some of their breakfast options (no crepes!). read more

Love this place! I live in Brighton Center and love walking down here on the weekends to grab a coffee or maybe some lunch. Their salad dressing (balsamic glaze) is to die for. The staff is always really nice and friendly and try to call you by name. The only tough part sometimes is trying to find an open seat, but if I can't then I just take my food to go. i generally dont give 2 stars to many places. Im not too picky about what i eat. As long as the service is good and the food is decent. Generally we go to Devlin's for brunch but wanted a change and decided to try Cafenation. The reviews were great and the most important thing is i have rarely seen anyone screw up omlettes. In this case, i was very dissapointed. I requested my omlette well done and i was told, the eggs are made a particular way and i couldnt put in a request for well done which i found bery strange. I am no brunch snob but the best of restaurants make a few changes if the patrons ask for it. I kept my fingers crossed and hoped that maybe it would not be very bad but unfortunately i didnt enjoy it at all. The coffee was also alright and my sundried tomato omlette i barely ate. All in all, i wouldnt be going back but im sure since its so popular, my review here wont make a difference. read more

Cafenation is my favorite local coffee shop. Everything I've gotten there has been extremely tasty. It has a great vibe, especially considering the area. The servers are friendly, and it's a good place to meet someone or read. Only downside is that for these reasons, it gets extremely crowded on the weekends and orders get a bit slow and tables hard to find. I have a home office but sometimes like to work from cafes so that I can interact with real people..... I love working at cafenation. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Lots of smiles. It seems like folks enjoy working there. They let me keep a tab, which helps that I don't have to pay for each snack or refill. Cafenation is just about all of the things I look for in a coffee shop. I do most of my studying in cafes, and this is close to perfect for it. They have free wireless, plenty of seating, and you get a free refill with the purchase of a cup of coffee. The front windows open in the summer time to let in the fresh air, which is also a nice touch (though does raise the noise level for study). Also, for those of you who are vegan coffee lovers, they don't charge extra for soy milk, and it's right out on the counter for your soy protein pleasure. The only drawback is, while their crepes are delicious, it draws huge crowds on weekend mornings. I first went on a Monday morning and camped out for a few hours, then returned the following Sunday to find every seat in the joint filled.Great for weekday studying, or a brunch date, but steer clear for weekend work. read more

Cafenation is an awesome local coffee shop with fabulous food options. I usually stick to my favorite 3 cheese omelet, but I recently tried one of the egg sandwiches and it was phenomenal as well. The warm apple cider is to die for. I don't drink coffee but my roommates do and they love it. There can be a bit of a wait in line or for a table on weekend mornings - but it is definitely worth it. I feel pretty terrible only giving this place 3 stars, but I have no choice as the service is just entirely too slow. My order is always the same- two bagels and an iced chai. Quick simple order right? Wrong. I have never been in and out of there in under 20 minutes no matter what day of the week or time I go in. On that note, the 20 min wait I complain of has not kept me from going back; the bagels & iced chai are just that good.... from what I hear so is the rest of the food. Great quality coffee and wonderful service! You can tell that the employees take great pride in their work. The environment isn't large, but it doesn't feel confined or cramped. My brother ordered a drink and spilt the whole thing outside at the bus stop. They graciously made him a brand new drink for free. It's certainly worth trying. read more
