I love the free wifi and the chocolate mandarin orange dessert crepes. The smoothies are good, too. If you are staying there to enjoy your coffee or whatever, they serve everything in mugs and on plates...bonus points for not using the disposable stuff. I went to Cafenation for the first time today and was super happy. Solid latte, lots of menu options and a comfortable environment. I got a bagel breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and avocado, totally hit the spot. I also love the added benefit of people able to support independently owned local businesses. Atmosphere is great. Friendly, attentive staff. Always some good music on, but not too loud if you're trying to get some work done. Coffee and tea selection is diverse and delicious. Try the food! It's casual fare, but touched up enough to make the mid-level prices worth it (brie and sprouts on a sandwich, in-house balsamic glaze on salads, make your own crepes, etc.). The coffee can range a tad, but overall I've been happy with the daily brew. Still love the sandwiches. However, lately there have been too many times that I have gotten home to find that my food was made incorrectly. Although I always get charged the extra dollar to add avocado to my sandwich, more often than not does it come without it. I used to come here often. Last time I came with a friend, I ordered coffee, an omelet, a sandwich, and tea. When I went to go out milk in my coffee and asked for a bigger cup because it was filled with coffee. The girl at the counter gave me the worst look and told me to pay for a large coffee because they had to buy milk and it was expensive. There is absolutely nothing negative to be said about this place, based on my experience there today. As we approached the door, all of the tables at the front of the cafe were filled with customers, and it seemed as though we picked a very busy time to come enjoy a sit-down breakfast. The place was packed, but thankfully there were plenty more tables at the back of the cafe to sit at. One thing that really stuck out to me was the friendliness of every employee there, despite how busy it was and how hard they were working. I felt extremely welcome regardless. Peering up at the menu with my mom, we decided to (as we usually tend to do) order two dishes that we both wanted, and share them between the two of us. The thought of having an omelette in a crepe was foreign but intriguing, so we decided to get the pesto sundried tomato crepe and the spanish surprise omelette (black beans, salsa, and cheddar) with avocado. We decided to splurge and each ordered a small chai latte (which was absolutely delicious - perfectly creamy, hot, and not too spicy) and shared a croissant while we waited for our meals. The wait for our food was very reasonable considering how busy it was, and we were absolutely not disappointed in the quality. The ingredients were clearly very fresh and prepared health-consciously. Most times when I order an omelette it's filled with grease but this was definitely not the case. Our plates were garnished with fresh cantaloupe which was a great complement to the meal, and I can't even describe how delicious the buckwheat crepe was. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I will most certainly be back whenever I want to get a delicious breakfast, sit and have a chai, or try any of their lunch options which looked equally as appetizing! read more

This is the first place I ever ate at in Boston and it's by far my favorite. Great crepes - sweet and savory (get the eggs and bacon one!). Also for the price, they're very big!!! And savory ones come with salads. Great, friendly staff! Also, free wifi which is always a plus. The bagels are great, of course. They come from bagel rising. The place, however, is poorly laid out and on the weekends it's virtually impossible to navigate through the place. Also, there is an employee who insists on whistling. I know it's kinda nit-picky, but come on, guy. It's not an enjoyable experience to come in and listen to your off-key whistling. read more

This is a good coffee shop - def more on the 3.5 side. Sandwich was decent, coffee was good, crepe was so good that I ordered another. People are friendly, including the patrons. Easy to find street parking. However, I continue my search for a coffee shop that feels more like a living room than a restaurant, and the noise level was more obnoxious than steady-background-noise. I reserve 4 and 5 stars for places where I can see myself returning - I probably won't be back here, but it was decent! read more

Good customer service, seems to cater to my age group (24-32). Excellent menu selection for food, though I must admit I haven't ordered it yet. Seems to have very reasonable portion sizes though. Barista seems very knowledgeable without being a snob about it. He made it a point to make sure my coffee was satisfactory. Has free WiFi which is a given for a cafe in 2015, but also has wall outlets, something that I have actually had some trouble finding. Come support your community cafe! I am not a coffee drinker and tend to steer clear of the larger coffee places (eg Starbucks) but every now and then, I like to stop in a cafe to have an iced tea in the summer or a hot chocolate in winter. I lived in Brighton for about 2 years and found this to be a very nice little place where many of the locals congregated no matter what time of day. It was also a great place to plan a meeting with other people or whatever. This place was almost right at the end of my street as well, so very convenient. Staff very friendly and many people know them on a first name basis. So whether you are a student, young professional, retired, or anywhere in between, this is a cute little place that I would encourage you to check out. read more

DO NOT GO ON SUNDAY. When I ordered my bagel egg and cheese sandwich, after paying, was told by the barista that the kitchen was "a little backed up, so your order might take a minute." I ended up waiting 25 minutes. For an egg and cheese. When I got home, I discovered they had put bacon on the sandwich (it's just an egg and cheese, they charge an extra dollar for bacon or other meat, which I did not ask for), and since I'm vegetarian, the sandwich went in the trash. Can't say how good the food is, but the service is so bad, it can't possibly be worth it. Won't be eating here again. read more

I am sitting here right now, and just had a truly life-changing tuna melt. It was SUPER tasty, the bread was delicious, the tuna salad was spicy and actually tasted like fresh delicious tuna, the cheese was good, the salad was delicious (and that dressing is ridiculous! can I buy it?). Inspired. Also, the people watching is particularly good from the window seats. And the music is the perfect level. AND there is free wireless. And it smells really good in here. I haven't had yummy coffee like this since visiting Gimme in Brooklyn. The milk/soy is incredibly frothy thanks to the friendly barista's. Besides the quality of coffee this place gets 4 stars for being ultra clean, friendly, and wifi accessible. I didn't try their food but my friend is a fan. There is an extensive offering of sweet and salty crêpes besides some yummy looking baked goods. I would have given them another star if the barista made a frothy drawing thingy in my coffee...I'm not trying to be fickle! Hehehe...But really, foam art really impresses me. read more

I'm a huge fan of rooibos tea and CafeNation is the only place I've seen a rooibos latte and it's super good! This place is so great! The crepes are healthy, delicious and affordable. I always get the florentine which has poached eggs, spinach and hollandaise sauce. The crepes come with fruit or a side salad. The chai latte there is also wonderful. They display local art on the wall, both paintings and photography. roasted fragrance fills warm ambiance for students that need sustanance I lived in Boston for, give or take, five years, and I didn't venture here until my fifth year. They've been here a long time, and the coffee competition in Boston has really ramped up in the past 5 years. I only get whole bean coffee here. They roast their own, $14 per pound, can't complain. The menu looks pretty interesting, but I haven't tried it. If you want a decent lunch or cup, it's solid for the area. I really should try the food. read more

Cafenation is a great local coffee/cafe shop that features some really interesting art/printwork from local photographers/artists. The rumors are that the owners are committed to local sourcing, so all A's in my book. Just a great place to sit, chat, and enjoy the local vibes. I've had multiple latte, coffee drinks - all good, the only troublesome thing is that I have the hardest time operating their raw sugar glass dispenser thingys....but I'm pretty sure it is just because I don't know the secret of how to do it....and after trying a couple times, I just run out before the staff start thinking I'm nuts. All the staff are nice, and it's great to see a place that will allow their employees to express themselves a bit (visible tattoos, piercing, wild hair colors... it's all good) I recommend sitting in the line of view of the crepe griddle...it's mesmerizing watching the cute indie employees create crepes... just go watch and you'll be amazed as well. The only eats that I have had to date is the corn chowder soup (tastey and spicy) and some random bakery treats. I did however see someone buying the balsamic dressing that they use on their salads, so it must be decent. I'll update more as I experience more of their food. But so far, so good, I just wish they were a little closer and that parking was a little easier. read more

Customer service is poor, but the coffee is great! Used to come here regularly, but stopped after having a poor customer service experience. I was sitting inside getting some work done at 10 AM on a Tuesday. There were 2-3 open tables and maybe 4-5 other people in the cafe. I had stopped at Starbucks on the drive over to the area because I actually didn't plan on going to Cafenation initially, but decided what the heck when I walked by it. I was approached by an employee about an hour after being there asking if I was going to order anything. I told him that I come here all the time and I'm just trying to get some work done real quick. He proceeded to tell me that I was occupying space that other customers could use (again, there were about 2-3 tables wide open). He also said he can't allow outside drinks (I had my Starbucks cup). I totally understand the latter, but the former is just bad business practice. I see it similar to an employee at a grocery store walking up to a suspected shoplifter and saying "hey! I saw you steal that apple!" Just not a great way to run a business. read more

I used to come to this place a lot until I got tired of how crowded it always was and how there was never a seat. The coffee is mediocre and the food is terrible, not to mention the owners are there constantly and just look at you for the entire duration of your visit. I went recently with some friends for lunch. I ordered a chicken caesar wrap with a drink. After eating, I went home and began to feel terrible. I had indigestion and started to get a headache. My clothes also reeked of this place because apparently when you're in there for 15 mins or longer your clothes retain the smell. I took tylenol and laid on the couch for an hour. When I woke up I took an indigestion pill and sharted shortly there after. Yes you read that correctly, I sharted. Needless to say I will not be returning to cafe nation anytime soon. read more

It's the small things that count: the barista remembering my name, self-serve iced water in mason jars, a bright red wall, free wi-fi that's actually fast...hooray! Food/drinks I've tried and highly recommend: + Iced coffee. Simple and delicious. + Memphis Panini (Grilled chicken, provolone, cilantro, red onions & BBQ sauce.
