Bulgogi, egg, and cheese--about as close to getting a Philly cheesesteak for breakfast, without actually getting a cheesesteak for breakfast. $0.60 credit card fee, which is mentioned on a sign at the register. Biggest downside: their storefront is confusing. They have two entrances. You wouldn't know it by looking at it, but you're supposed to use the basement entrance to get to the ordering area. read more

Small korean-american cafe. Located on walnut street across from washington square park, this little cafe is easy to miss since the entrance is tucked underneath a building. Take the staircase downstairs into this unassuming cafe and you'll be greeted with a warm welcome by the staff. Best chai latte in the city. Sandwiches are a little small but the price is fair and tastes pretty good. Had the pork sandwich on a croissant. Ample seating upstairs which is nice to get work done. read more

It's a little tucked in and may be easy to miss if you're just walking around. But I'd hope to be back soon. Wow wow wow 10/10 HIGHLY must go. The drinks are phenomenal. First time there and Ashley the barista made me what she recommended and it was super refreshing. Loved the cozy atmosphere and such spacious occupancy on the second floor. The place is decorated with some really neat artwork as well. Lots of delicious treats to choose from too. The cracks in the red paint were black with grime and lack of strong cleanser for too long. Same for the floor and back shelves and undercounted storage space. It's nice and cozy inside, you enter downstairs and they have seats down there with more upstairs too. I got the Bulgogi Egg and Cheese on a plain bagel which was absolutely delicious and I plan on getting it again someday. I love Cafe Walnut! It's in a great spot on Washington Square. You enter below sidewalk level and sit either in the small cafe area or upstairs in an open space. They have samples of my favorite...a waffley walnutty faux-Walnut goodness! Try to resist these! Their drinks are lovely, especially the red velvet latte. They have good chai lattes as well. Oh and try the smoothies! The staff is super nice and always welcoming. With an order to stay or to go, solo or with freinds, Cafe Walnut is one of my favorites. read more

Can't believe I haven't visited this cafe before! Cafe Walnut is a cute little Korean run coffee shop with delicious drinks and food. I got a iced Chai tea latte with almond milk and toffee nut syrup added into it. They have a wide variety of syrups to choose from! I tried their homemade kimchi and tuna salad sandwich with Swiss cheese and oh my god it was good. I'm a picky eater and tuna salad is easy to mess up, so I'm super impressed with how well it was made. Their homemade kimchi is well fermented and spicy enough to make your tongue tingle, but not overwhelming. They also offer vegan kimchi! So happy with my experience, just make sure you come in through the downstairs entrance! read more

Large beautiful open area upstairs that overlooks the park on walnut street for a quiet studying time, best of all... it was NOT packed. If you're a fan of La Colombe (my personal favorite quality coffee shop), then you'll love their coffees! The owners are hilarious and love to create their own inspired blend of coffees, smooths, and teas. Must Try: -Red Velvet Latte (for coffee drinkers) basically a Mocha but on steroids and it's red. Similar to La Colombe's mocha, but more chocolate-y and infused with their homemade syrup. - MISUGARU LATTE! (for non coffee drinkers) Considered a super drink because of the natural healthy ingredients inside. It's basically a korean steamed milk latte that has a nutty, sweet, rice taste. It was so smooth and rich. Coming from an Asian background, I love this type of drink. I had their quinoa one (you don't taste it) and it's been my favorite! The breakfast sandwiches (specifically the Bulgogi, Egg, and Cheese - probably one of the top in Philly) are really good. The sitting area upstairs is very pleasant. My favorite thing about this place is the upstairs where there's plenty of seating. I always try to grab a high-top seat that overlooks Washington Square Park. Small cafe in Philly with a variety of your usual espresso drinks (latte, cappucino, mocha etc and available iced or hot). They have almond milk as a non dairy option yay! Really nice and friendly owners who were very warm and welcoming! I got an iced hazelnut almond latte- it was on the sweet side at default, so if you want to add flavored syrup just remember to request the amount of syrup based on your preferences. Great coffee and really cozy feel. They have some simple Korean dishes like bibimbap and dumplings in the refrigerator section. There are also some pastries to go with your coffee. I wanted to love this place so badly because I wanted more variety for lunch outside of talula's daily in the area and the people are so incredibly nice! I was misled about what their version of bimibap would be like, so I ordered that for lunch as part of the special. It was literally just rice, lettuce and chicken with the pre-made vegetable dumplings. The egg was fried fully so there was no fun yolk to mix in. I was expecting a more authentic version of bimibap with a variety of veggies and flavor. Was it filling? Yes. Was it good? No, it was edible but it was very disappointing and I wouldn't order any other food based on this water downed version of bimibap. I would probably only come back for lattes or coffee since it is a very nice cafe with the nicest people! read more

The matcha here was so good that I went back and ordered a second one before I left! I would say it's some of the best matcha I've ever had. I also ordered a croissant sandwich, which was also amazing. Additionally, there's abundant seating and it has a great vibe. I also love the inclusion of Korean food into the traditional American cafe. The main problem here was the condition of the cafe itself. The service was good and quick, but they only had two people working at prime lunch rush (1pm on a Friday), with one person on food prep and the other on taking orders and making drinks. The poor staff member taking the drinks seemed so stressed and overwhelmed. My table was super sticky. It didn't seem like it was just that day that had made it sticky, it literally felt like whatever was making it sticky was caked onto the table. I had to go ask for a wipe to wipe it down, and was only provided with a wet paper towel that barely helped. There was water dripping from the ceiling (into a bucket) and the bathroom was out of order as well. The napkins were severely under stocked. Overall, the food and drinks were amazing and it has a great ambiance, but it seriously could benefit from better management and more employees. I would consider going again, but would prioritize takeout rather than staying. read more

Came in to get an iced ginger honey tea. I've had the hot version before but never the iced. The medium iced ginger honey tea was $4.25, but it's pretty true to size and refreshing. The ginger pieces are chopped small enough to fit through the straw, and thankfully I asked for less honey because it was just the right amount of sweet! Definitely prefer the hot over iced version though. read more
