See, we've driven through this same road countless of times, but despite this we have always found ourselves missing the opportunity to stop and see what this place had to offer. Not this time. Five hours before this destination, my wife and I promised ourselves that regardless of what happens we will place that foot on that brake and stop. We succeeded. Stepping into this cafe was... uninspiring. This cafe, despite the bright colours and the reasonably attractive exterior, was quite stereotypical of a rundown cafe. Chairs and tables were average, paper and handwritted signs plagued the cafe, and the atmosphere inside was goomy and unhappy. For me, it was an experience much like "meeting your hero". You think they'll be amazing, but when you actually meet them you're left feeling wanting. Moving past the interior, my wife and I set our eyes on the ultimate goal for being there: to try Andy's Cherry Pie. Glancing around the room, sifting through the food warmers and benches, we found Andy's Cherry Pie on the far right corner of the store. We inspected it, analysed it, and decided that we've come this far to forgo the experience. And so we walked to the front counter, asked the lovely cashier person for a slice of the pie with some cream on the side and waited. After an excruciating minute, yes, we had the pie in hand. It seemed... glorious. Plump, round and juicy looking cherries filled the pie and the crust looked crispy. We hopped into the car, turned it on, and stared at the pie. Now or later? We asked ourselves. Now, it had to be now. So we opened the plastic container, donned the spoon, and digged deep into the pie. Heaven. Despite the lacklustre interior and despite the feeling of being let down after having such high expectations, the pie turned out to be magnificent. The cherries were plump, juicy and beautiful, the crust was robust, crumbly and smooth, and the flavour was natural. The pie wasn't filled with sugar, or rather it didn't seem like it, and you can taste the cherries. For the lack of a better sentence, it was Heckin' Good. Driving away, we felt a bit disappointed. We left with a slice, but after tasting the pie we felt that we should've left with an entire thing. Everything was expertly made, and Andy's pie definitely did not disappoint. I want more pie, no, I need more pie, and this was the place I was going to get it. In about a week, we will be driving back down through this same road again. Having tasted the beautifully crafted cherry pie, there's really only one more thing I can say, and that is: "Andy, we'll see you soon."
