Walking around the main square one day, I stumbled upon Frankie's. From the outside, the shop had a cool, fresh vibe- very American-ish. While I recommend trying out local & authentic fare as much as possible when traveling, I couldn't resist a acai bowl. I came here more than once while in Poland and I was pleased every time. I tried both the choc-acai bowl and the regular acai bowl. My friends loved the mango bowl. My only complaint (and this is really just me being a picky American) is that the smoothies and acai bowls are on the liquid side. I'm quite used to everything being thick and creamy but in Poland (and much of Central Europe) they use less ice and add more liquid. Side note: the menu in the shop is in Polish but they do have English menus if you ask!

Wroclawska is one of the places to find traditional cuisine back from the days when the city of…read moreWroclaw was still part of the German Empire (and was known by its German name Breslau), so eating at this gastropub was a way to taste a slice of history! The Wroclaw Bigos was a stew of red cabbage, beef, pork, veal, raisins, apples, and red wine, and served with baguette slices on the side; compared to a traditional Polish Bigos, this stew had a much sweeter flavor from the fruit used in its preparation. Next, the Silesian Heaven was a dish of cured pork belly and a slice of pork loin in a sauce made of dried fruit (including apricots, plums, and peaches) along with five round, chewy Wroclavian dumplings made with potatoes. Both of the dishes we had were on the sweet side and expensive for what they were, but the service and the experience made eating at this gastropub a memorable stop!
